APSU honored with Tree Campus USA recognition

Clarksville, TN – With 110 acres of green space and a diverse number of trees planted, located and maintained on campus, the efforts of Austin Peay State University staff and students have been honored by the Arbor Day Foundation with the University’s first designation as a Tree Campus USA institution.
“This was the first time that the University has gone through the application process, and it is a recognition of the collaborative environment we have at Austin Peay,” Wes Powell, assistant director, landscape and ground, said. “We had members of the University, as well as the community come together for the conservation and preservation of our natural resources.”

Austin Peay was honored by Tree Campus USA for their efforts of planting and maintaining trees around the campus.

Austin Peay State University’s Camp Granada music day camp expands in its fifth year

Clarksville, TN – As it prepares for its fifth year, Camp Granada, Austin Peay State University Department of Music’s summer music day camp, continues to expand its mission of providing area children with an opportunity to develop a life-long love of music.
Established in 2011 on the APSU campus, Camp Granada has grown throughout Montgomery and surrounding counties in both Tennessee and Kentucky.

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Downtown Artists Co-op (DAC) is proud to announce “Sestina” by member artist Billy Renkl. Opening reception for the exhibit will be on Thursday, March 3rd, 5:00pm-8:00pm.
The DAC will be hosting this wonderful solo exhibit by Billy and will be featuring new art by our artists this March. As always, DAC will be serving fabulous appetizers and beverages during the opening. The exhibit will be on display through the month of March.

APSU welcomes sound artist and TED Fellow Christine Sun Kim

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Art and Design, with support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, is pleased to welcome sound artist and two-time TED Fellow Christine Sun Kim to campus for a visiting artist lecture.
The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:00pm on Wednesday, March 2nd, in room 401 of the Trahern Building.
Austin Peay Visiting Writers Series welcomes essayist Ann Pancake on April 12th

Clarksville, TN – Author and essayist Ann Pancake, a native West Virginian with a bit of a wanderlust, has traveled the world in search of a story.
After graduating from West Virginia University, Pancake earned an M.A. in English from the University of North Carolina before teaching English in, among other places, American Samoa, Japan and Thailand. Even now, Pancake lives in Seattle, teaching in the low-residency MFA program at Pacific Lutheran University.
CASE III honors Austin Peay State University Public Relations and Marketing for its excellence

Clarksville, TN – The Office of Public Relations and Marketing at Austin Peay State University has been recognized by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) – Southeast District III for its promotional work.
The awards were announced during the CASE III annual conference held in February in Nashville, Tennessee.
