Clarksville Civil War RoundtableClarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, May 17th, 2017 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Tennova Heathcare. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.

The meeting begins at 7:00 pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s premiere choral ensemble – the Chamber Singers – will showcase their talents in Tennessee and Georgia during their 2017 tour this March.

“Our Chamber Singers have been preparing for this tour since the first day of classes back in August of 2016,” Dr. Korre Foster, director of choral activities at Austin Peay, said.

APSU Student Newspaper - The All State - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The All State, the student-run newspaper at Austin Peay State University, earned two national awards from the College Media Association (CMA) during the organization’s Fall National Media Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, October 29th.

Glavine Day, sports editor, earned a coveted second place national Pinnacle Award for Best Sports Page/Spread for her designs featuring the huge win by the Govs at the 2016 Ohio Valley Conference Basketball Championship.

Fort Defiance Interpretive Center to host Book Signing and Lecture

July 15, 2016

Fort Defiance Interpretive CenterClarksville, TN – Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, will host a lecture and book signing with author Stephen Davis on Thursday, July 21st from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. The lecture will begin at 1:00pm, and upon its conclusion Davis will sign copies of his book, “A Long and Bloody Task” until 4:00pm.

Spring of 1864 brought a whole new war to the Western Theater, with new commanders and what would become a new style of warfare. Federal armies, perched in Chattanooga, Tennessee, after their stunning victories there the previous fall, poised on the edge of Georgia for the first time in the war.

APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative ArtsClarksville, TN – The APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts presents an alumni reading and screening featuring Raven Jackson, Chip Boles and Anthony Sims Jr. at 4:00pm, Tuesday, February 16th in the Trahern Gallery on the campus of Austin Peay State University.

After finishing his English degree at APSU in 1999, Anthony Sims went on to earn an MFA from Ohio University. His feature screenplay, “Behemoth,” was optioned by Lucy Darwin (“Match Point,” “Lost in La Mancha”) in 2006.

This year’s Rivers and Spires Festival is scheduled for April 14th-16th, 2016. The STS Top 20 Festival and Event Awards have highlighted programs around the Southeast since 1985.

New art exhibit at APSU offers powerful look at slave trade

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s Trahern Gallery, with support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Art and Design, is pleased to open its 2015-2016 exhibition season with artist Stephen Hayes and his powerful body of work titled “Cash Crop.”

“Cash Crop” is an exhibition that invites viewers to walk into an emotional, physical and psychic space to confront the past, present and future.
