Battle of New Orleans Commeration to kick off in Clarksville Tennessee with keelboat sendoff

The Early Arkansas Reenactors AsscociationClarksville, TN – On Nov. 13, 1814, a group of Tennessee Militia rendezvoused at Nashville to join Gen. Andrew Jackson in what has come to be called the Battle of New Orleans. They left Nashville on Nov. 18, 21, and 23 and marched to Clarksville, where they boarded flatboats for the long journey to New Orleans.

On Nov. 15, 2014, two hundred years later, Clarksvillians will again send Militia volunteers on a 40-fort keelboat replica down the Cumberland to re-enact that famous battle in New Orleans.

Riverfest’s Tour d’Art Exhibits and Competition begins Friday

2014 RiverfestClarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Riverfest Festival’s Tour d’Art Exhibits and Competition kicks off Friday, September 5th.

This year’s competition has changed just a bit; instead of three different exhibits, Riverfest Tour d’Art will feature the following divisions exhibited at two locations: the Amateur, Professional, and Senior Division at Smith-Trahern Mansion and the High School Division at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center.

Artwork will be juried, and over $2,500 in prizes will be awarded.

The Logo of the Arts and Heritage Development CouncilClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council is hosting an evening of champagne, an Irish supper and Celtic music at the Customs House Museum at 6:00pm on Friday, June 17th.

Irish country music will be performed by Vintage Wildflowers, stopping in Clarksville as part of their first tour, highlighted by a Washington, D.C., performance for the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage Concert Series.

Two APSU Professors to Present at Annual Clarksville Writers Conference

Two members of the Austin Peay State University community will be featured presenters at this year’s Sixth Annual Clarksville Writers Conference, to be held July 28th-31st on the University campus.
