Hamburger Hill Veterans Visit Fort Campbell Kentucky

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne Division Fort Campbell, KY – Dozens of Vietnam-era, 101st Airborne Division Veterans returned to Fort Campbell, May 12th – 13th, to commemorate the 42nd anniversary of the Battle of Hamburger Hill.

The 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, “Iron Rakkasans” welcomed the Veterans back to Fort Campbell and will host several events in their honor.

The Veterans, on May 12th, visited to the Sabalauski Air Assault School, where Veterans witnessed a demonstration of 21st Century combat insertion techniques and Air Assault operations.

Joint Contracting Exercise

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Fort Campbell is hosting 115 contingency contracting officers during Operation Joint Dawn January 17th – February 5th.

Exercise participants are preparing to deploy within the next 12 months to Iraq, Afghanistan and Qatar. Participants include active Army and Air Force, Army National Guard, and Army Reservists from 50 locations, including Alaska, Japan and Hawaii.

The exercise was designed to train Soldiers on “warrior tasks” in addition to a variety of contracting-specific tasks.

On July 17th from noon until 2:00pm, Gary Mathews Motors and The Beaver 100.3 FM, will kick off the “Soldiers’ Angels” Donation Drive and the “Letters for Lyrics” promotion. By writing a letter to a soldier, and taking it to Gary Mathews Motors, you can receive a free CD of “Breaking Southern Ground” featuring Zac Brown Band, Sonia Leigh, Nic Cowan, and Levi Lowrey. Fort Campbell plans Independence Day Celebration

July 4th Show Planned

Freedom FestFORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – Fort Campbell will host its annual Independence Day Celebration beginning at 7:00 p.m. July 4th.

The show will include performances by the Screaming Eagles Parachute Demonstration Team, a concert by the 198th Army Band from Rochester, N.Y., fifty-gun salute to the states, posting of the colors, and a fireworks display.
