Austin Peay State University’s The New Gallery presents “Patrick Vincent: Vanishing Islands”

Clarksville, TN – This January, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) The New Gallery, with support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Art + Design, will continue its exciting 2018-19 exhibition season with Patrick Vincent: Vanishing Islands.
The exhibit opens Monday, January 14th and runs through February 8th. Vincent will give a public lecture on his work at 6:00pm on February 5th in the APSU Art + Design Building’s Heydel Hall.
APSU, Chautauqua partner to award student residencies at New York art institution

Clarksville, TN – Starting next year, one or two Austin Peay State University (APSU) art students will spend each summer at the Visual Arts at Chautauqua Institution in New York, immersed in nine weeks of classes, workshops and one-on-one time with art mentors.
And they won’t have to pay a dime.

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Department of Art + Design, with support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, is pleased to welcome artist, author and new director of the Visual Arts at Chautauqua Institution Sharon Louden to Austin Peay State University.
“Sharon Louden’s visit to Austin Peay will be a special one,” Michael Dickins, gallery director for The New Gallery, said.

Sharon Louden’s “Windows.” Louden will give a public lecture about her work 6:00pm Wednesday, November 14th, at Room 120 of the Art + Design building at Austin Peay State University (APSU).
Korean-American artist Valery Jung Estabrook to visit Austin Peay State University

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s The New Gallery, with support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Art + Design, is pleased to present “Valery Jung Estabrook: Three American Bodies” to continue an exciting 2018-19 exhibition season.
Estabrook is a multidisciplinary installation artist whose works explore the intersections of culture, identity and technology.

Wendy Red Star to speak, show exhibit at APSU

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s The New Gallery, with support from The APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Art + Design, is pleased to present Wendy Red Star: Apsáalooke Feminist, Four Seasons, White Squaw, to continue an exciting 2018-19 exhibition season.
Artist Wendy Red Star works across disciplines to explore the intersections of Native American ideologies and colonialist structures, both historically and in contemporary society.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s The New Gallery, with support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Art + Design, recently opened its 2018-19 exhibition season with “McLean Fahnestock: Undiscovered Country.”
Fahnestock is a media artist who works across modes of communication, from video and photographic images to sound, text and display.
Austin Peay State University Art + Design and CECA celebrate Acuff class with new exhibit

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Art + Design and the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts celebrate this year’s Acuff Chair of Excellence, Sonya Clark, with an exhibition of work created by students in the course, Measuring Histories.
The exhibition will be in The New Gallery for a one-day only event, opening on May 2nd, 2018 from 9:00am–5:00pm. The exhibit will reopen with a free public reception from 7:00pm-9:00pm, where Sonya Clark and student artists will be present.
Austin Peay State University The New Gallery Presents Yvette Cummings: Splendor & Fault

The exhibit opens Monday, February 19th, in the Art + Design Building’s The New Gallery, and runs through March 23rd.
The New Gallery at Austin Peay presents “John Douglas Powers: The Four Winds”

Clarksville, TN – The New Gallery, with support from the Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Art + Design, is continuing its exciting 2017-18 season with its newest exhibition, “John Douglas Powers: The Four Winds.”
Powers, who made a name for himself with large-scale, intricate and finely crafted kinetic sculptures, is coming to The New Gallery fresh off of a year-long Guggenheim Fellowship.
New Gallery at Austin Peay State University presents Faculty Triennial exhibition

Clarksville, TN – Next month, Austin Peay State University’s The New Gallery, with support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Art + Design, will present the Faculty Triennial, an exhibition celebrating the artwork of current Art + Design faculty.
This year has brought many celebrations to the Department of Art + Design. In August, the new Art + Design building opened its doors to students with new studio classrooms and new exhibition spaces.
