APSU Department of Theatre and Dance to present Arthur Miller’s ‘All My Sons’

Clarksville, TN – On Thursday, October 4th, 2018 the Austin Peay State University Department of Theatre and Dance will open its 2018-19 season with “All My Sons” by Arthur Miller. The production will run through Sunday, October 7th.
Show times are 7:30pm Thursday-Saturday, with matinee performances 2:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. All performances are at the Margaret Fort Trahern Laboratory Theatre.

Clarksville, TN – Madalyn Mercer, Ushma Patel, Joshua Schlensker and Grayson Phillips recently took control of a $300,000 mechatronics training system unpackaged and set up this summer at Austin Peay State University.

Austin Peay State University is on track to be the second university in North America to award a bachelor’s-level Siemens Mechatronic Systems Certification Program, and the University hopes to launch the program as early as fall 2019.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) is on track to be the second university in North America to award a bachelor’s-level Siemens Mechatronic Systems Certification Program, and the University hopes to launch the program as early as fall 2019.
“It’s a highly coveted program that allows students to be Siemens-certified at three levels,” Matthew Anderson, interim chair of the APSU Department of Engineering Technology, said. “First is a certificate, second is an associate degree, third is a bachelor’s degree.”

Visit Clarksville announces Tickets on sale now for Miss Tennessee USA 2019 Pageant

Clarksville, TN – Delegates from around the state will adorn Clarksville for the 2019 Miss Tennessee USA and Miss Tennessee Teen USA Pageants on October 12th-13th, 2018 at the Austin Peay State University Music and Mass Communications Building. Organized and produced by Greenwood Productions, the upcoming pageant marks Clarksville’s 20th year to host the event.
The preliminary show will take place on Friday, October 12th, 2018 at 7:00pm.

Two Black Hawk Helicopters to land on APSU campus Friday, September 21st

Clarksville, TN – On Friday morning, September 21st, 2018 two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters will land on the Austin Peay State University campus for a special, joint training exercise between the University’s Governors Guard ROTC program and the Tennessee National Guard.
APSU Board of Trustees approves new Military Family Resource Center

Clarksville, TN – On Friday, September 14th, 2018 Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, who will leave office when his term ends later this fall, visited Austin Peay State University, and he asked the school’s Board of Trustees what he should tell his successor about the University. Don Jenkins, a trustee, immediately mentioned Austin Peay’s military focus.
“This is a very military-friendly town, but it’s an incredibly military-friendly college,” he said.

APSU names retired Brigadier General Scott Brower as inaugural military adviser in residence

Clarksville, TN – On September 1st, 2018 retired Brigadier General Scott E. Brower, former deputy commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division, joined Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) senior leadership team as the institution’s first military adviser in residence.
In this new role, Brower will advise the APSU leadership team on how the University can better serve its military students and help the University optimize the process of recruiting, enrolling and graduating military-connected students.

Michelle Obama portrait artist, Amy Sherald, to speak at APSU

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Art + Design, with support from The APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, is pleased to welcome internationally known artist, Amy Sherald, to Austin Peay State University.
Known for her stylized portraits of African-Americans, in 2016, Sherald was the first woman to win the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery’s Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition; an accompanying exhibition, The Outwin 2016, was on tour through August 2018.

CMCSS appoints Jessica Harris, Nabraunda Jackson as Elementary Principals

Montgomery County, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) announced two elementary school principal appointments Tuesday afternoon.
Jessica Harris has been appointed principal at Minglewood Elementary School; and, Nabraunda Jackson has been named principal at Byrns Darden Elementary School.
