Clarksville, TN – Sierra Salandy’s last year in college typifies her entire time at Austin Peay State University (APSU).
Busy. And amazing.
She started off the semester as a legislative intern in the Tennessee General Assembly (one of a record 11 from APSU this year). And during her first week on Capitol Hill, she found out she’d won the crown of Miss Black Tennessee US Ambassador.

Austin Peay State University sets fundraising goal of $200,000 for third annual Govs Give online giving campaign

Clarksville, TN – Beginning April 8th, 2019 Austin Peay State University (APSU) will launch Govs Give, its third annual 72-hour online giving event.
The goal for this year’s campaign is to collect $200,000 for the APSU colleges’ Funds of Excellence, along with funds for athletics and student affairs.
APSU’s Eriksson College of Education welcomes delegation of Chinese teachers

Clarksville, TN – For nearly 90 years, Austin Peay State University (APSU) has provided professional development training for local teachers, but in late February, the Eriksson College of Education expanded its services well beyond the Middle Tennessee region.
On Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 a delegation of 15 preschool and kindergarten teachers and administrators from Beijing, China, arrived on campus for a special, week-long training symposium.
APSU Woodward Library Society hosting annual Society Social on April 6th

Clarksville, TN – This April, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Woodward Library Society will host its annual Society Social, featuring author Michael Doubler.
The Society Social, a library friend-raising and fundraising dinner, is scheduled for Saturday, April 6th, 2019 in the Franklin Room of the F&M Bank in downtown Clarksville. Social hour begins at 5:30pm followed by a buffet dinner catered by the Party Station.

APSU qualifies for Collegiate Drone Racing Nationals

Clarksville, TN – The Drone Club at Austin Peay has qualified for the Collegiate Drone Racing Association nationals – in the school’s first season of competitive racing – next month at the University of North Dakota.
APSU students tour the West during Spring Break with Govs Outdoors

Clarksville, TN – Eight Austin Peay-based students traveled west with Govs Outdoors during Spring Break, taking in sights such as the Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest National Park, the Devil’s Bridge and Cathedral Rock trails in Arizona, the Santa Rosa Blue Hole in New Mexico and the Cadillac Ranch in Texas.

Clarksville, TN – The last time David Bradley, a PEN/Faulkner Award-winning novelist, visited Austin Peay State University (APSU), during the 2000-01 academic year, he helped initiate important conversations across campus through his class, “Civil Rights and Literature,” and his public lecture, “The Function of Lynching in Contemporary America: To Make Them Stand in Fear.”
AHDC receives $10,000 grant to offer arts experiences to military families

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council has received a $10,000 grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission to enfold active military, veterans and their families into Clarksville’s creative community.
The Tennessee Arts Commission in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Veteran Services awarded nine Tennessee Military, Veterans & the Arts grants to organizations throughout the state. Two Montgomery County organizations, AHDC and Gateway Chamber Orchestra, were grant recipients.
