Gateway Chamber Orchestra to perform Transfigured Night, November 3rd

Clarksville, TN – Gateway Chamber Orchestra will host Transfigured Night, their second Masterworks Series concert of the 2019-20 season, on Sunday, November 3rd, at 4:00pm.
Soar through darkness into light with the dramatic program of works by the renowned Ottorino Respighi, Claude Debussy and Arnold Schoenberg. GCO harpist Paula Bressman casts light onto Debussy’s beautiful Danses with grace and elegance.

TACA Commits to Hold Tennessee East-West All-Star Classic in Clarksville for 4 Years

Clarksville, TN – Officials with the Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association (T.A.C.A) and Visit Clarksville have signed a new four-year contract to stage the annual Tennessee East-West All-Star Classic at Fortera Stadium on the campus of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville. The game has been played at the home of the Governors for the past two years, and the new contract solidifies the presence of the contest in Clarksville through the 2023 season.

Clarksville, TN – The leaves are changing colors (more from a lack of rain than a shift in the season), and as they quietly fall across Austin Peay State University, only a few squirrels and feral cats can be heard scampering through them. That’s because it’s Austin Peay State University’s Fall Break, October 14th-15th. Neither the Clarksville Campus nor Fort Campbell Center will have classes those two days.

Through APSU CECA partnership, Kennedy Center hip-hop teaching artist engages Kenwood Middle School students

Clarksville, TN – John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts teaching artist Bomani Armah stood at the front of Kenwood Middle School’s library on October 3rd with more than 60 students staring at him.

Kennedy Center teaching artist Bomani Armah leads about 60 Kenwood Middle School students in a hip-hop writing exercise. Grabbing the sides of your head and blasting your hands out symbolizes prewriting in Armah’s hip-hop dance. (APSU)
CMCSS Administrators Announced

Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) has selected Ashlie Perry as principal at Minglewood Elementary School, replacing Jessica Harris who was named director of elementary schools. Perry has been serving as assistant principal at Minglewood.

Pageant Celebrates 20 Years in Clarksville
Clarksville, TN – Justice Enlow, Miss Belle Meade, was crowned Miss Tennessee USA 2020 Saturday, October 12th, 2019 at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. Ansley Ecker, Miss Memphis, was crowned Miss Tennessee Teen USA 2020.
The new title-holders and the runners-up received numerous prizes and scholarships.

Clarksville BBQ Bash next Saturday at Liberty Park

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, October 29th, 2019, the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will host its 3rd barbecue contest “Clarksville BBQ Bash” at 10:00am at Liberty Park located at 1188 Cumberland Drive.
Participating teams comprised of multiple people or an individual from near and far will compete to see who has the best BBQ and for a total of $5,000 in cash prizes!
