Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Master of Arts in psychology at Austin Peay State University is now the M.A. in industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology.

The APSU Department of Psychology recently changed the name of the graduate degree program. I-O psychology is the behavioral science that creates psychologically-based programs and systems to build positive and productive relationships between employers and employees. [Read more]

Four APSU Nontraditional Students establish new Honor Society

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Recognizing that nontraditional students face challenges of juggling academics, family and work, Austin Peay State University has formed a new chapter of a national honor society that applauds high-achieving adult learners.

Alpha Sigma Lambda has granted APSU with a local chapter, Alpha Theta Psi. Four APSU students, three of whom are nontraditional, enrolled in a Public Relations Campaign class – Krizia Gonzales, Halbeen Gundky, June Knight and Holly Templeton – advocated for an honor society specifically for nontraditional students pursuing undergraduate studies. APSU Foundation sponsoring raffle for chance to win $20,000 cash in February

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – To help provide scholarships to more students at Austin Peay State University, the APSU Foundation is sponsoring a raffle drawing for a chance to win $20,000 cash.

The raffle drawing will be held during the men’s basketball game between APSU and Southeast Missouri on Saturday, February 26th, 2011, in the Dunn Center. It is not necessary to be present to win.

All proceeds from the raffle are designated for scholarships. Tickets are $10.00 each, and anyone—18 or older—can enter the raffle and increase the chances of winning by buying multiple tickets. [Read more]

Art Scholar Horowitz to give lecture at APSU on January 31st

The APSU Department of Art LogoClarksville, TN – Gregg Horowitz is a scholar with many interests. His curriculum vitae lists his areas of specialization as “aesthetics and philosophy of art history, critical theory of culture and philosophy and psychoanalysis.”

The common thread is his passion for art in its many forms, and the former Vanderbilt professor is using his expertise in these fields to inspire budding young artists and designers at New York’s famed Pratt Institute. He was recently named chair of the Institute’s Social Science and Cultural Studies Department. [Read more]

APSU Artist Shipley Displays Work at Nashville Airport

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Every day, hundreds of people from across the country arrive at the Nashville International Airport, and, shortly after getting off the plane, among the first things they see in Tennessee are the innovative and highly-stylized ceramic sculptures by artist Ken Shipley.

That’s because Shipley, an Austin Peay State University associate professor of art, is among only a handful of artists from across the state to have his work exhibited at the airport as part of the “Flying Solo Series: Winter 2011.” The exhibit is part of Arts at the Airport, which is funded by the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority and the Tennessee Arts Commission. But artist and Austin Peay State University drawing professor Billy Renkl views these old papers differently. He sees an entire world of deep, contradictory meanings arising when he uses the documents as a canvas for his pen and ink. [Read more]
