34th Annual Queen City Road Race Early Bird Registration deadline is quickly approaching

Clarksville, TN – The Early Bird Deadline for the 34th Annual Queen City Road Race, scheduled for Sunday, May 6th, is quickly approaching! Those registering for the 5K race on or by April 20th will qualify for the $20.00 rate. Registration after April 20th will be $25.00 for the 5K.
The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages. The 5K race route takes runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, beginning and ending at Austin Peay State University’s Governors Stadium, while the One Mile Movement takes you on an exciting tour of a portion of the APSU campus. APSU to hold 2nd annual Joint Juvenile Justice Conference on Saturday

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University will hold its second annual Joint Juvenile Justice Conference on Saturday, April 21st in the Morgan University Center.
The conference will take place from 8:30am-4:30pm on the third floor of the MUC.
The purpose of the conference is to increase the awareness of issues, programs and resources available to youth, parents, teachers, college students, advocates, officers of the court and the public to help prevent juvenile delinquency. [Read more]
Road Closures announced for Rivers and Spires Festival

Clarksville, TN – Road closures for this week have been announced for the 10th Annual Rivers and Spires Festival in downtown Clarksville.
Also, starting the morning of April 19th, parking will be restricted in some downtown areas. There will be orange “No Parking” bags placed over meters in the restricted parking areas. [Read more]
APSU Provost Lecture Series to focus on Songs of War

Austin Peay State University Area of Dance recognized at regional dance festival

Clarksville, TN – On a recent Thursday afternoon, Margaret Rennerfeldt flipped through a small, flimsy journal to read a few notes she’d jotted down earlier this month while attending the American College Dance Festival Association’s Southeast Region conference in Albany, GA.
The Austin Peay State University assistant professor of dance had brought a work she choreographed to the event, and she wanted to remind herself of what the panel of judges had said about the dance.

Edelweiss Club scholarship awarded to Austin Peay State University student

Clarksville, TN – Eric Ezzell, a German major at Austin Peay State University, has been selected to receive the Clarksville Edelweiss Club Scholarship for 2012-13.
He was honored during an awards ceremony at the Edelweiss Clubhouse on April 11th and received a check from Jim Nolan, president of the Clarksville Edelweiss Club.

American Sociological Association president to speak at APSU

Erik Olin Wright, who also serves as the Vilas Distinguished Professor of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin, will speak at 4:00pm, Monday, April 16th in the McCord Building, Room 209.

Clarksville, TN – In March of 2011, an obituary appeared in the New York Times announcing the death of the great American composer Lee Hoiby at the age of 85.
The article championed his career, mentioning such notable works as his 1964 opera “Natalia Petrovna,” but for those who knew Hoiby, his death left something unfinished – an unperformed flute concerto he wrote 17 years earlier.
