Clarksville, TN – Several faculty and staff at Austin Peay State University recently announced their latest professional and scholarly activities.
Christopher Burawa, with Cynthia Hogue from Arizona State University and Clyde Moneyhun from Boise State University, presented a panel, “Translating Living Writers,” at the 2012 American Literary Translators Association annual conference held October 6th at the University of Rochester. [Read more]
Entries now being accepted for the 53rd Annual Christmas Parade

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and Montgomery County Government have partnered with Agero to host the 53rd Annual Christmas Parade.
The parade will be a night-time, lighted Christmas parade and is scheduled for December 1st, 2012 beginning at 5:00pm.
This year’s parade will feature both the Austin Peay State University Governors Own Marching Band and the Tennessee State University Band, dozens of businesses and organizations, as well as Santa Claus.
APSU Provost Lecture Series to feature video on Dorothy Dix Collection

Clarksville, TN – Video production about the comprehensive Dorothy Dix Collection at Austin Peay State University will be the next project presented at the Provost Lecture Series.
Kathy Heuston, associate professor of communication at APSU, and Inga Filippo, professor and instructional librarian at APSU, will share the video Heuston and her students created at 3:00pm, Thursday, October 18th in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. All sessions of the Provost Lecture Series are free and open to the public.

Madison Street United Methodist Church to hold Pops Concert October 26th

Clarksville, TN – The Madison Street United Methodist Church Pops Concert will be held on Friday, October 26th, 2012, at 7:00pm
The Concert features The Madison Street Chancel Choir, VocalEase from Austin Peay State University and The Clarksville Youth Chamber Choir.
APSU to hold fundraiser Dinner October 26th for new History Scholarship Endowment

Clarksville, TN – To celebrate the accomplishments and service of World War II veteran and faculty emeritus Preston John Hubbard, Austin Peay State University will hold a dinner to raise money for a scholarship endowment in his honor.
The Preston Hubbard Scholarship Dinner will be held at 7:00pm, Friday, October 26th in the Morgan University Center Ballroom. Cost is $25.00 per person, with the proceeds benefiting the scholarship fund to help deserving history students. [Read more]

United States Colored Troops Living History Association Hosts Annual Conference in Clarksville October 19th-21st

Clarksville, TN – The United States Colored Troops Living History Association’s annual national meeting will be October 19th-21st in Clarksville, TN at Riverview Inn, 50 College Street.
The United States Colored Troops Living History Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote and accurately interpret the history of the United States Colored Troops of the American Civil War and those that supported their efforts to abolish slavery and preserve the Union and to educate the public and promote research of the history and legacy of those who served in the Civil War. APSU Woodward Library Society to have fall program

Famed Brentano String Quartet to perform at APSU on October 19th

Clarksville, TN – The Brentano String Quartet, one of the world’s pre-eminent chamber music ensembles, will visit Austin Peay State University at 7:30pm on October 19th for a special performance in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall.
The event is hosted by the Clarksville Community Concert Association, which works to bring world-class and engaging artists of the highest quality to the local community.
APSU to begin new concert series Friday at The Gilroy

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University National Alumni Association will begin a three-concert series leading up to Homecoming.
The City Lights Concert Series, sponsored by The Gilroy, Budweiser of Clarksville and APSU Alumni Relations, will begin Friday, October 12th. APSU alumni, friends and fans are invited.
All shows will start at 8:00pm at The Gilroy, located on the corner of University Avenue and Main Street, with doors opening at 6:00pm. [Read more]
