Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Community School for the Arts is gearing up for another busy semester of classes this spring, and area adults and children interested in pursuing their creative interests are encouraged to register beginning December 3rd.
For more than two decades, the CSA has provided music, art, drama, creative writing and dance lessons for members of the Clarksville community. This spring, the CSA will offer classes from January 7th through May 3rd. [Read more]
APSU Provost Lecture Series to discuss protein secondary structure prediction

Clarksville, TN – Protein secondary structure prediction from its amino acid sequence is a well studied computational problem in bioinformatics and data mining, and it is one that an Austin Peay State University computer science faculty member will discuss from his latest research as part of the next Provost Lecture Series at APSU.
Dr. Leong Lee, assistant professor in the APSU Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, November 29th in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. All sessions of the Provost Lecture Series are free and open to the public. [Read more]
APSU hosting 8th annual Black History Bowl on January 25th

Clarksville, TN – February is still a few months away, but area middle and high school students are already studying and preparing themselves for Black History Month.
That’s because on January 25th, Austin Peay State University’s Student Tennessee Education Association (STEA) club will host its Eighth Annual Black History Bowl – a scholastic competition open to teams from local schools.
APSU to hold Military/Veteran Graduate Recognition Ceremony December 12th for Fall Graduates

Clarksville, TN – Active duty and military veteran students who will graduate from Austin Peay State University in December will receive APSU’s military coin.
The military and veteran graduate recognition and coin presentation ceremony, with the theme “All Hail to Those Who Serve,” is scheduled for 5:00pm, Wednesday, December 12th in the Music/Mass Communication Building Mabry Concert Hall. The event is open to the public.

Clarksville, TN – For more than 100 years, the Vienna Philharmonic has set aside New Year’s Day as a time to perform uplifting holiday pieces by Johann Strauss and his family.
It has become one of the great traditions in all of music, earning a sizable television audience in America in recent years, but a new, similar tradition has taken hold in Clarksville.
For the last three years, Dr. Gregory Wolynec, professor of music at Austin Peay State University, has brought the festivities to town a little earlier with the APSU Symphony Orchestra’s annual “Vienna in Clarksville: A Holiday Celebration” concert. [Read more]

Gateway Chamber Orchestra and Chorus to perform “Winter Baroque” concert December 2nd

Clarksville, TN – In 1731, the German composer Johann Sebastian Bach wrote his Sacred Cantata No. 4, also known as “Sleepers, Wake,” to be performed on the 27th Sunday after Trinity.
It’s a remarkably beautiful piece from the Baroque era, but the timing of its performance was a bit unfortunate.
APSU graduate student James DeMoss receives Carlisle Award

Clarksville, TN – James DeMoss, an Austin Peay State University graduate student majoring in English, was selected November 17th as the recipient of the prestigious Carlisle Award at the closing ceremonies of the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature (TISL).
He and nine other SGA student leaders represented APSU during four days of legislative debate in the state’s capital. [Read more]
