When Darren Michael, Austin Peay State University associate professor of acting/directing, reread “Lysistrata” earlier this semester, he realized little has changed in the last two thousand years.
APSU Provost Lecture Series to have History professor present at next session

Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University history professor will present the next session of the Provost Lecture Series this week at APSU.
Dr. Jason Verber, assistant professor of history, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, April 11th in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. The title of his presentation is “Germans in the French Foreign Legion.”

Austin Peay State University prepares future Music Teachers with Home-School Program

Clarksville, TN – On a recent Wednesday morning, about 60 children packed into a small music classroom in the Austin Peay State University Music/Mass Communication Building. They sat wide-eyed, staring at a piano and a table full of violins and other orchestral instruments.
In the front of the room, an APSU music student tuned a cello, and the strange sound caused some of the students to kick their feet excitedly back and forth. In a few minutes, they’d actually get to touch one of those expensive instruments. [Read more]
APSU Chamber Singers to perform Bach’s Mass in G Minor April 26th-27th

Clarksville, TN – The German composer Johann Sebastian Bach wrote more than a thousand complex musical works in his lifetime, but modern audiences know only a few of the baroque musician’s masterful creations.
His Mass in B minor is one of his most played works, with some music scholars arguing that his reputation could rest on that composition alone.
APSU Governor’s Bass Tournament just around the corner

Clarksville, TN – The 19th annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament is just five weeks away.
This year’s competition will be held Saturday, May 11th, at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing, Tennessee, State Park. Last season’s tourney drew 264 boats.

Two Austin Peay State University Alumni to be inducted into Phi Kappa Phi Hall of Fame

Clarksville, TN – Two Austin Peay State University alumni, one of whom is a congressman, will be inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 191 Academic Hall of Fame.
In addition, the chapter will initiate 116 students and six faculty as new members during the ceremony at 6:30pm, Wednesday, April 10th in Clement Auditorium. [Read more]
APSU announces 3rd annual Breast Cancer Awareness 5K

Clarksville, TN – The third annual Breast Cancer Awareness 5K will be held Saturday, April 13th in front of the Foy Fitness and Recreation Center on the Austin Peay State University campus.
Registration is available online through www.Active.com or on race day beginning at 6:30am.
