Clarksville, TN – As my wife and I were preparing for a recent vacation, we started collecting the books we planned to read while on our trip. I usually grab the latest offering by Harlan Coben, Patricia Cornwell, or John Grisham.
She is currently catching up on the “Left Behind” series, but as she was putting our choices in the bag, she reached for my autographed copy of “When Newspapers Mattered: The News Brothers & their Shades of Glory” written by former Leaf-Chronicle “newspapermen” Tim Ghianni and Rob Dollar.
Clarksville’s Fronkensteen Theater to hold Redeye 10 Minute Play Festival

Clarksville, TN – At 8:00pm on Friday, September 27th, 6 directors will meet with six casts to rehearse and stage a 10 minute play. The only problem? They have only 24 hours to produce it.
Show time starts at 8:00pm on Saturday the 28th at the Austin Peay State University Morgan University Center Ballroom and like the saying goes, the show must go on!
APSU Provost Lecture Series: Art professor Jones to present Common Hope on September 26th

Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University art professor will present the next session of the Provost Lecture Series this week at APSU.
Barry Jones, interim chair of the APSU Department of Art, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, September 26th, in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. His lecture will be about the “Common Hope” community art project he developed this year.

APSU administrators have new titles this year

Clarksville, TN – Two members of the Austin Peay State University community returned to campus this fall with new job titles in order to maintain the University’s status as a thriving institution of higher education.
President Obama highlighted that status in August when he singled out APSU as a leader in using technology to better serve students.
Clarksville Stompfest for Christ set for Saturday, September 28th

Clarksville, TN – It’s back! Stompfest for christ! Clarksville and the surrounding areas are welcome to come out and enjoy live music and entertainment on Saturday September the 28th at the APSU Clement Auditorium.
Several churches will use their god given talents to lift up the name of Jesus through various means of entertainment.
Austin Peay State University named a 2014 Military Friendly School

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University continues to be recognized for its dedication to veterans and active duty military students with the announcement today (September 10th) that it has once again been named by Victory Media as a Military Friendly School for 2014.
The honor ranks APSU in the top 20 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide, according to Victory Media, a veteran-owned business and publisher of G.I. Jobs and the Guide to Military Friendly Schools. The company surveyed more than 12,000 schools, according to the announcement.
Montgomery County College and Career Fair September 23rd

Montgomery County, TN – The annual Montgomery County College and Career Night for students and their parents will be September 23rd, 2013 from 6:00om-8:00pm at Austin Peay State University’s Foy Fitness Center.
This event gives students exposure to a wide array of post high school options, allowing them to informally visit booths to pick up information about colleges, post secondary institutions and career opportunities and speak with representatives of those institutions. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University to recognize distinguished graduates during Alumni Award Brunch on October 26th

Clarksville, TN – This October, Austin Peay State University will honor seven distinguished graduates during its annual Alumni Awards Brunch.
The event, which is open to the public, begins at 10:30am on October 26th, in the Morgan University Center Ballroom.

APSU moves up 18 spots on Best Colleges list

Clarksville, TN – The U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges 2014 rankings were released September 10th, and Austin Peay State University jumped an astounding 18 spots this year, placing 69th in the Regional University South rankings.
That category includes schools from the southeastern United States that offer a full range of undergraduate programs, with some master’s programs but few doctoral programs. Last year, APSU ranked 87th in that category. [Read more]
