Annual Card Party returns to APSU May 21st

Clarksville, TN – The semester is coming to a close at Austin Peay State University, which means it’s time for the annual Card Party on campus.
This year’s event, featuring games of Rook, Bridge and other card games, will be from 10:00am to 1:00pm on Wednesday, May 21st, at the Morgan University Center Ballroom.

Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts to speak at Austin Peay State University Spring Commencement

Clarksville, TN – Tennessee state Representative Joe Pitts often refers to himself as “a proud 1980 graduate of Austin Peay State University,” and on May 9th, he’ll return to his alma mater to deliver the keynote address at the University’s 85th Spring Commencement.
He will speak at both commencement events, at 9:00am and 2:00pm, in the APSU Dunn Center.

Community invited to receptions with finalists for APSU President job

Clarksville, TN – The four candidates vying to become the next president of Austin Peay State University will arrive on campus in the next few weeks for a series of meetings, interviews, tours and forums.
During these visits, community members are invited to attend special receptions to meet with these individuals.

The 2014 Rivers and Spires Festival is the playground for this fun pick to win game, sponsored by the Clarksville Civitan Club. All over the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, where the Festival will call itself home from April 24th-26th, yard signs will be placed randomly with sponsor’s names and numbers.
APSU honored Student Leaders, Organizations, Faculty and Staff at annual Student Organization and Leader Awards Program

Clarksville, TN – The Office of Student Affairs at Austin Peay State University honored leadership and service by individual students, student organizations, faculty and staff at its annual Student Organization and Leader Awards Program on April 16th.

APSU recognized Outstanding Faculty at Annual Academic Honors and Awards Ceremony

Clarksville, TN – On April 15th, Austin Peay State University recognized several outstanding faculty members during the annual Academic Honors and Awards Ceremony in the Mabry Concert Hall.
During an emotional presentation, the University’s top faculty honor, the APSU National Alumni Association Distinguished Professor Award, was presented posthumously to John Moseley, associate professor of communication. Moseley passed away on February 9th, after an 18-year career as an active faculty member at APSU. [Read more]
APSU Office of Disability Services recognized as leader in Tennessee

Clarksville, TN – In late March, the Tennessee Association of Higher Education and Disability (TN-AHEAD) recognized Austin Peay State University’s Office of Disability Services as one of the top collegiate service organizations in the state.
During the TN-AHEAD Spring Conference and Business Meeting at East Tennessee State University, Janet Norman, associate director of the APSU Office of Disability Services, was presented with the Dona Sparger Professional Service Award for advocacy, education and service to individuals with disabilities.

APSU professor Karen Crow to represent Mid-South in National Vocal Competition

Clarksville, TN – Karen Crow, Austin Peay State University adjunct professor of voice, has been chosen to represent the Mid-South Region in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Award (NATSAA) competition at the association’s upcoming National Conference in Boston this July.
The competition is held biennially in conjunction with the association’s National Conference.
APSU Breast Cancer 5k Supports Relay For Life

Clarksville, TN – On April 5th, more than 200 runners, walkers and community supporters braved the chill of early spring for the 4th Annual Breast Cancer 5k at Austin Peay State University.
With proceeds earmarked for breast cancer treatment and research, the Montgomery County Relay For Life is very fortunate for the continued support of Austin Peay State University and for the community for participation in the Breast Cancer 5k since the Relay For Life effort supports the battle against all forms of cancer.
