APSU Art Student Renyi Zhang Presents “Reinterpretations of Still-Life” Exhibit

Clarksville, TN – Studio art major and first place winner of this year’s Austin Peay State University Annual Student Art Show, Renyi Zhang (also known as Isabel Forest), is going to present her work in a new exhibit, “Reinterpretations of Still-Life,” which opens with a reception from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on April 25th, in the Trahern Student Gallery.

APSU Art Student Wainwright Explores “Marginalia” of the Mind with New Exhibit

Clarksville, TN – The notes or comments a reader scribbles next to a passage in a book, in an effort to illuminate or make sense of what is written, is often referred to as “marginalia.” Those annotations unwittingly change, forever, the content of that book. They add another layer to it’s meaning. APSU Senior Rodriguez’s ‘Aeffect’ Exhibit Opens April 11th

Clarksville, TN – When you look at a person, all you can see is what is on the outside. It is hard to imagine what they are thinking or feeling, or what they have been through to get where they are today. All a person sees is the physical, weathering effects that human experiences have placed on the human body.

Senior artist Jessica Rodriguez has decided to look deeper than a person’s outer beauty with her new exhibit “AEffect,” which opens with a reception from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on April 11th at the Trahern Student Gallery. The exhibit runs through April 15th. [Read more]

APSU Art Student Explores Darkness of Human Condition in New Exhibit

Clarksville, TN – What inspires fear or discomfort? Is what a person feels unique, or is it part of a collective consciousness? How do people respond to environment and atmosphere? These are the questions that inspire Austin Peay State University art student Jessica Griffin, who has been creating work digitally since childhood.

Raised by Nashville artist Stephanie Helmey and Architect Stephen Helmey, Griffin was encouraged from an early age to explore new media for expression. She uses computer modeling and image manipulation to explore the dark aspects of the human condition. In her new show “Forgotten Dementia[n],” which opens with a reception from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on March 28th in the Trahern Student Gallery, she focuses on asylums and society’s rejection both of the patients sent there and, eventually, the institutions themselves. APSU BFA Student’s Senior Show Exhibits Hidden Beauty of Old Abandoned Home

Clarksville, TN – Old, abandoned houses are normally considered to be eyesores to a neighborhood. Many are torn down to be replaced by something new, but away from the city and suburban life many are left standing to crumble and decay on their own. They become overgrown and hidden by brush and weeds, only to become forgotten and passed over.

Austin Peay State University photography student Megan Melton, however, seeks to find these places and show the beauty of what they once were and are now. [Read more]
