Clarksville, TN – The 100th anniversary of the establishment of Army ROTC programs in the nation is this year, 2016.
Austin Peay State University (APSU)’s ROTC program is celebrating with a week of events demonstrating its cadets’ commitment to the Army Values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage to commemorate the program’s centennial anniversary.

Clarksville, TN – Faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced a number of achievements as part of their professional and scholarly activities.
Christopher Burawa, director of the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, had his translation of Kristín Eiríksdóttir’s short story, “Staðsetja, Útvega, Flokka, Raða og Varðveita” (“Locating, Acquiring, Classifying, Arranging, and Preserving”) published in the spring 2014 issue of the literary journal Waxwing. APSU Provost Lecture Series presents English professor Daniel Shea, October 31st

Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University English professor will present the next session of the Provost Lecture Series this week at APSU.
Dr. Daniel Shea, APSU associate professor of English, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, October 31st, in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. He will discuss his paper, “Time Travel by Bicycle: The Country, the City, and the Cyclist in Late-Victorian England,” which uses accounts of bicycling in Victorian novels to examine how people moved easily between antiquated rural communities and modern cities during that era’s agricultural depression.

Michael Hamlet, director of human resources, has been appointed by the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence (TNCPE) board of directors to the 2013 Board of Examiners. As an examiner, he will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating organizations that apply for the TNCPE Award. [Read more]

Dr. Victoria McCarthy and Dr. Robyn Hulsart, both associate professors of professional studies, won best conference paper at the May 2012 conference of The Academic Forum. The title of their paper was “A Crisis Management Plan for Ethical Misconduct and Financial Fraud.” [Read more]

Dr. Mike Gotcher, chair of the APSU Department of Communication, Dr. Anna Filippo, assistant professor of communication, Tracy Nichols, communication instructor, and Dr. Melony Shemberger, assistant director of communication in the APSU Public Relations Office, judged various individual events and debate rounds at the Northeast High School Speech and Debate Tournament held February 4th at the school in Clarksville. Chris Burawa, director of the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, had an article, titled “An Interview with Afaa Michael Weaver,” published in the Summer 2011 edition of Contemporary Literature. The article also was written by Cynthia Hogue and Stacey Waite. Burawa also will have a poem, “Dripping Surgery,” to appear in the October 2011 edition of Hayden’s Ferry Review. [Read more]
