APSU Public Relations, Marketing earns 16 Tennessee College Public Relations Association trophies

APSU Department of MusicClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Public Relations and Marketing team won 16 awards during the 2019 Tennessee College Public Relations Association Awards at the association’s May 24th annual meeting.

The team won four golds, five silvers and seven bronzes.

APSU Public Relations and Marketing Office recognized in region for work

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Office of Public Relations and Marketing at Austin Peay State University has been recognized by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) – Southeast District III for its recruitment work.

The office received a special merit award in the recruitment publication series category for print and digital pieces. The printed pieces selected for the honor were part of the Traditional Student Recruitment Series. [Read more]

APSU Growth rate brings need for Crosswalks, Campus Physical Plant finds Solar Solution

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Most people don’t think in terms of solar power when it comes to campus traffic issues, but APSU Physical Plant Director, Tom Hutchins was thinking solar was a perfect solution to remedy a growing traffic related issue around campus — pedestrian safety.

As the campus has grown, nearly doubling in size during the last decade, and the paths people took from classroom to classroom changed, so did the places where pedestrians cross streets.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced a number of achievements as part of their professional and scholarly activities.

Dr. Dixie Dennis, associate provost for grants and dean of the College of Graduate Studies, recently contributed three chapters to the new scholarly book, “The A-Z of Death and Dying: Social, Medical, and Cultural Aspects,” edited by Michael Brennan. Dennis wrote the chapters, “Definition of Death,” “Funerals” and “Near-Death Experiences.” [Read more]

Austin Peay State University official statement on APSU President Tim Hall accepting presidency at Mercy College

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University President Tim Hall announced today that he has accepted the position of president at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY. His nearly seven-year tenure at APSU, which marked a period of tremendous growth and national prominence for the University, will come to an end later this spring.

“Lee and I will be departing Austin Peay at the end of the spring semester as I assume the position of president of Mercy College in New York,” Hall wrote in an email message to the campus community today. “We do so with excitement and anticipation at the prospect of new challenges, but with a measure of sadness that we will be leaving a place where we have enjoyed some of the happiest years of our lives.”

Dr. Najmul Abedin, professor in the public management and criminal justice department, had several articles published recently. These include “The Conceptual and Functional Diversity of the Ombudsman Institution: A Classification” published in Administration & Society; “The Ombudsman Institution and Democracy in the Bangladesh Context” in the book “Democracy in Bangladesh”; and “The Ombudsman Institution, Political Authority and Corruption” in the African Journal of Public Administration and Management. APSU’s Meacham Apartments to undergo Structural Repairs

September 30, 2011

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Last week, APSU physical plant staff discovered settlement cracks in the exterior façade of Meacham Apartments while conducting routine building maintenance. APSU officials are working with state and local officials to remediate the problem.

Meacham Apartments, an apartment style living complex built in 1981 and located on West Avenue, has settlement cracks in three of its five structures, including cracks in a walkway connecting the buildings. The settling is believed to be caused by water damage, likely from flooding conditions during recent years, according to APSU officials. [Read more]
