Austin Peay State University receives Top National Award for improved efforts in Educational Fundraising

Clarksville, TN – Since 2010, Austin Peay State University has encouraged alumni, friends and supporters to give to The Legacy Campaign, the University’s current capital fundraising program that so far has significantly increased millions of dollars for scholarships and educational endeavors.
APSU is being recognized for its efforts with The Legacy Campaign.
The Council for Advancement and Support of Education, known in the education circle as CASE, has selected APSU to receive the 2013 CASE Educational Fundraising Award, an honor given to superior fundraising programs at educational institutions across the U.S. [Read more]
Reagan Giving Circle at APSU to have award luncheon

Clarksville, TN – The Reagan Giving Circle at Austin Peay State University will award more than $8,500 in scholarships to 10 APSU female students during its award ceremony next month.
The ceremony will be held at 11:30am, Monday, April 29th in the Clarksville Country Club, located at 334 Fairway Drive, Clarksville. Tickets are $25.00 per person.

APSU to celebrate Women in Athletics April 5th-6th with focus on Title IX

Clarksville, TN – It’s time to laud all current and former female athletes at Austin Peay State University.
The second Women in Athletics celebration, scheduled for April 5th-6th, will spotlight the 40th anniversary of Title IX, monumental federal legislation first enacted in 1972 that requires gender equity in sports and other key educational programs receiving federal funding.
The law states, “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” [Read more]
Austin Peay alumna, family begin new nursing scholarship

Clarksville, TN – Mary Windham was known for her nursing and administrative accomplishments before coming to Austin Peay State University in the 1960s to teach and later organize the School of Nursing.
But that wasn’t her greatest gift.
Her greatest gift was making people feel special, encouraging them to be and do their best, her daughter, Dr. Emily Windham, said. [Read more]
APSU Languages and Literature Department awards Scholarships to top Students

Clarksville, TN – Several Austin Peay State University Department of Languages and Literature students were rewarded for their hard work recently when the department presented them with scholarships totaling more than $7,000 for the coming year.
Every spring, the languages and literature department awards the scholarships generously endowed by community members and alumni. Each scholarship has specific criteria for eligibility, set up by the individual who created the scholarship, and a committee within the department then combs through lists of students who meet those requirements. Reagan Giving Circle at APSU to have 1st Award Luncheon

Clarksville, TN – The Reagan Giving Circle at Austin Peay State University will award scholarships to APSU female students during its first award ceremony next month.
The ceremony will be at 11:30am, Tuesday, May 1st in the Morgan University Center Ballroom. Tickets are $25.00 per person.
Featured speaker will be Janet Ayers, president of the Ayers Foundation and the 2007 Association of Fundraising Professionals Philanthropist of the Year, who in 2006 gave more than $3.4 million to support community organizations in Tennessee and in the previous three years had personally given or pledged more than $27 million. Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University recently received a financial gift from Florim USA to be used for scholarships.
Florim USA has committed to fund annual scholarships in memory of its founder, Ing Giovanni Lucchese. The scholarships are for students majoring in marketing, computer science and chemistry.

APSU launches new Pave the Way campaign

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University has launched the new Pave the Way campaign, allowing individuals to purchase a brick paver as a lasting tribute to someone – all while supporting the University.
The personalized brick pavers will be placed along the walkway between the Marks Building and Blount Hall on the main campus. [Read more]

APSU celebrates the first Women in Athletics event

Clarksville, TN – It’s time to laud all current and former female athletes at Austin Peay State University, and for that endeavor, a new event is planned to recognize the growth of women’s sports and raise funds for a new endowment.
For the inaugural year, the 2011 Austin Peay Celebrates Women in Athletics, scheduled for April 8th-9th, will spotlight the 25th anniversary of the Lady Govs softball program. In addition, the softball field will be named in honor of Cheryl Holt, a longtime coach and assistant athletic director at APSU.
