Austin Peay State University African American Cultural Center to host several Black History Month events

Clarksville, TN – February is now upon us, and the Austin Peay State University Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center has a busy month of events planned in recognition of the Black History Month.
Some of the events are National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, Second Annual 5K Breast Cancer Awareness Fun/Walk, “Who Will Lead the Next Social Movement” lecture and several others. Make sure to mark your calendars and come out to these wonderful events. [Read more]
New organization at APSU give voice to nontraditional students

Clarksville, TN – A sizeable portion of the Austin Peay State University population – around 42 percent – is made up of what is generally termed as nontraditional students. These individuals include single mothers, active duty military and veterans and just about anyone who didn’t enroll in college immediately after high school.
For years, these students struggled to create their own unique identity on the APSU campus, and this year they finally succeed with the formation of the Non-Traditional Student Society. The students initially chartered a chapter with the Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society. Then APSU’s Office of Student Life and Leadership approved the creation of the organization earlier this fall, giving these students a venue to network, support each other and voice their concerns. Clarksville, TN – For several hours, students at Austin Peay State University will dance the night away, while lending a helping hand, at the annual Dance Marathon.
The event, which benefits the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, begins at 6:00pm, Friday, September 23rd in the Foy Fitness and Recreation Center on APSU’s campus. [Read more]

APSU Grad Finale for Spring 2011 graduates

Clarksville, TN – Students scheduled to graduate in May from Austin Peay State University will have an opportunity to participate in Grad Finale, an event designed to make sure all preparations have been made for spring commencement.
Grad Finale will be from 2:00pm-6:00pm, February 28th and from 10:00am-2:00pm, March 1st. Both sessions will be in the Morgan University Center Ballroom.
Students need to bring a form of identification, including their student I.D. or driver’s license, with them to this event. [Read more]
