Austin Peay State University’s 2012 Homecoming features two sports events open to public

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University National Alumni Association will sponsor both a golf tournament and 5K scholarship run during Homecoming 2012, and those will be open to the public.

The 34th Annual Homecoming Golf Tournament will be at 8:00am, Friday, October 26th at Swan Lake Golf Course. Cost is $60.00 per person, and advance registration is required. Fee includes ditty bag, refreshments on the golf course and light lunch. The event is sponsored by Budweiser of Clarksville. [Read more]

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University will send off 733 candidates for degrees during dual Fall Commencement ceremonies December 16th in the Dunn Center.

Dr. Bert Randall, professor of philosophy and the 2011 APSU National Alumni Association Distinguished Professor Award recipient, will be the keynote speaker at both commencement events.

The faculty member who earns the Distinguished Professor Award in May serves as commencement speaker at APSU’s fall graduation.

Randall holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from the university of Oklahoma. He has a B.S. in mathematics from Maryville College, a Master of Divinity in theology from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts. [Read more]

APSU Grad Finale for Summer 2011 graduates

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Students scheduled to graduate in August from Austin Peay State University will have an opportunity to participate in Grad Finale, an event designed to make sure all preparations have been made for summer commencement.

Grad Finale will be held from 11:00am-3:00pm, Wednesday, July 6th in the Morgan University Center Ballroom. Students need to remember to bring a form of identification, such as their student I.D. or driver’s license, with them to this event.

Two APSU alumni inducted into Academic Hall of Fame

June 15, 2011

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Two Austin Peay State University alumni recently were inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 191 Academic Hall of Fame.

Ben Kimbrough (’51) and Fred Landiss (’69, ’70) were inducted during the APSU chapter’s initiation ceremony. As part of a permanent tribute, their names will be displayed on a plaque housed in the Woodward Library on the main campus.

The APSU PKP chapter established the Academic Hall of Fame in 1997. While it is not necessary for a nominee to hold membership in PKP, the nominee must be an alumnus of APSU who, since graduating, has demonstrated through his or her life the beliefs of The Society. [Read more]

Kimbrough Honored for His Support of APSU Academics

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University recently established a new honor, the Outstanding Academic Supporter Award, to recognize individuals who have made an exceptional effort to promote and support the educational components of the University.

On April 26th, during the annual Scholarship Donor Appreciation Dinner, Clarksville businessman and philanthropist Ben Kimbrough was named the inaugural recipient of the award.

APSU Foundation selects new members to serve for 2011

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Foundation has selected 10 new members for 2011.

The APSU Foundation provides the structure through which the University can work directly with special volunteers and community leaders to enhance the financial well being of the University. The Foundation’s purpose is to financially support the University.

The Foundation is a separate entity and is chartered by the state, with the authority to receive private gifts in support of the University. Through its executive committee, the Foundation makes its own policy decisions. The University provides administrative support to the Foundation. [Read more]
