New APSU students, community encouraged to read ‘Saints at the River’

Clarksville, TN – This summer, Austin Peay State University will welcome new students who will register for classes and pick up one of their books that will serve as the common reading assignment for Fall 2013 semester.
The new book is “Saints at the River” by Ron Rash, and the community also is invited to read the book and participate in the campus events and book discussions beginning in September. New student orientation and registration will begin May 18th and continue throughout the summer. [Read more]
APSU to announce, celebrate transforming gift

Austin Peay State University Provost Lecture Series: Art professor to present session this week

Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University art professor will present the next session of the Provost Lecture Series this week at APSU.
Paul Collins, gallery director and assistant professor of art, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, April 18th in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. His lecture will be about the Living Gallery Program, an experimental approach in using arts exhibition programming to engage students.
The Living Gallery Program was developed with funds from APSU’s Summer Faculty Research Program grants. [Read more]
APSU Creative Writing Club hosts 2nd spring reading event April 29th

Austin Peay State University Nontraditional Student Society to host 2nd annual Governors Ball April 13th

Clarksville, TN – At 6:00pm on April 13th, the Austin Peay State University Nontraditional Student Society (NTSS) will host its second annual Governors Ball in the Morgan University Center Ballroom.
The formal event will feature a dinner, served at 6:30pm, and dancing until 11:00pm. Tickets are $30.00 a person or $50.00 a couple, with proceeds benefiting the society. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University receives National Student Veterans Award

Clarksville, TN – On Monday, March 18th, Austin Peay State University received a national award from the Student Veterans of America in honor of the commitments APSU has made in the last few years to help active duty military, reservists, national guardsmen and veteran students earn their college degrees.
“The award honors APSU for its superior work helping veterans and their families,” SVO President Michael Cleveland said.

APSU plans activities as part of Disability Awareness Month throughout April 2013

Clarksville, TN – Walking to class, listening to a lecture, reading a sentence accurately or typing email are daily actions most people can do without thinking twice.
But for those who have disabilities, such activities can be a challenge. Their world is different.
That’s what the Office of Disability Services at Austin Peay State University wants people to understand. April is Disability Awareness Month, and activities are designed so that the public can see how different life with a disability is. [Read more]
