Young Women’s Leadership Symposium to be held at Austin Peay State University April 5th

Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University faculty member will lead the third annual Young Women’s Leadership Symposium on April 5th.
Dr. Marsha Lyle-Gonga, assistant professor of political science, will conduct the symposium, which has an anticipated enrollment of 100 women, from 8:30am-4:30pm, April 5th in the Morgan University Center Ballroom. The one-day seminar is designed to increase the political efficacy of women ages 16-24 through leadership development and civic engagement activities. [Read more]
Noted activist and social critic Dr. Marc Lamont Hill to speak at Austin Peay State University February 26th

Clarksville, TN – Dr. Marc Lamont Hill is a hard person to classify. He is an academic, serving as an associate professor at Columbia University. He also appears regularly on CNN, MSNBC and the Fox News Channel as a respected commentator and journalist.
Some know him simply as a writer, penning articles for the New York Times and authoring books such as “Beats, Rhymes and Classroom Life: Hip-Hop Pedagogy and the Politics of Identity.”
APSU hosting career fair for students in STEM field

8th Annual Black History Bowl at Austin Peay State University Friday

Clarksville, TN – February is still a few weeks away, but area middle and high school students are already studying and preparing themselves for Black History Month.
That’s because on January 25th, Austin Peay State University’s Student Tennessee Education Association (STEA) club will host its Eighth Annual Black History Bowl – a scholastic competition open to teams from local schools.

APSU choral activities hosting 3rd annual Holiday Dinner December 1st

Clarksville, TN – In the summer of 2010, Dr. Korre Foster, Austin Peay State University assistant professor of music, traveled to the eastern European country of Latvia in search of choral music. He went on this journey after meeting Baiba Kelley, a local woman of Latvian descent who yearned to again hear the music of her native country.

Clarksville, TN – Every November, on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, the Austin Peay State University Department of Languages and Literature hosts a benefit reading that not only celebrates the written word, but also raises public awareness of hunger in the local community.

APSU to present faculty and staff military veterans with APSU coin on November 15th

Clarksville, TN – More than 50 faculty and staff at Austin Peay State University who are military veterans will be honored at a special APSU Employee Veteran Recognition Ceremony on Thursday, November 15th.

APSU to hold fundraiser Dinner October 26th for new History Scholarship Endowment

Clarksville, TN – To celebrate the accomplishments and service of World War II veteran and faculty emeritus Preston John Hubbard, Austin Peay State University will hold a dinner to raise money for a scholarship endowment in his honor.
The Preston Hubbard Scholarship Dinner will be held at 7:00pm, Friday, October 26th in the Morgan University Center Ballroom. Cost is $25.00 per person, with the proceeds benefiting the scholarship fund to help deserving history students. [Read more]
