APSU staff members honored for continuous service, retirement or education

Clarksville, TN – Several employees at Austin Peay State University were recognized Friday, July 22nd for their continuous years of service. A reception was held in the Morgan University Center ballroom to honor those employees.
Donna Liverett, administrative assistant in the APSU Department of Chemistry, was honored for her 40 years of service to APSU.
Employees with 25 years are Clifford Frederick, Cheryl Garrett, David Gleckler, Denise Hemingway, Michele Jones, Betty Leimer and Julia McGee.

APSU Grad Finale for Summer 2011 graduates

Clarksville, TN – Students scheduled to graduate in August from Austin Peay State University will have an opportunity to participate in Grad Finale, an event designed to make sure all preparations have been made for summer commencement.
Grad Finale will be held from 11:00am-3:00pm, Wednesday, July 6th in the Morgan University Center Ballroom. Students need to remember to bring a form of identification, such as their student I.D. or driver’s license, with them to this event.
APSU political science professor launches symposium for young women

Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University faculty member recently selected for the APSU Summer Faculty Research Fellows Program (SFRP) will conduct the first Young Women’s Leadership Symposium later this month on campus.
Dr. Marsha Lyle-Gonga, assistant professor of political science, will use the stipend awarded from the University’s SRFP to fund the symposium, scheduled for May 16th-17th. The two-day seminar is designed to increase the political efficacy of young women ages 18-24 through leadership development and civic engagement activities. [Read more]
Provost Lecture Series at APSU to feature Fulbright Scholar

Clarksville, TN – The next Provost Lecture Series at Austin Peay State University will feature a Fulbright Visiting Scholar who will discuss U.S. and Russia relations.
Dr. Alexander Kubyshkin, professor of North American studies in the School of International Relations at St. Petersburg State University in Russia, will speak at 6:00pm, Wednesday, February 23rd in the Morgan University Center Ballroom C.
His visit is sponsored by the U.S. Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program of the Council for International Exchange of Scholars, the APSU Department of Political Affairs and the offices of Academic Affairs and International Education. The event is free and open to the public. [Read more]
APSU Grad Finale for Spring 2011 graduates

APSU alumni to share experiences with students at Career Networking Event

APSU Department of Allied Health plans Health Screening Day

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Allied Health in conjunction with a grant from the Student Academic Success Initiative (SASI) will sponsor its Health Screening Day later this month for the campus community.
The event will be from 9:30am-2:00pm, Wednesday, November 17th in the Morgan University Center (MUC) Ballroom.
Faculty, staff, and students will have an opportunity to participate in blood pressure screening, glucose screening for diabetes, cholesterol screening, and anemia. Basic blood typing will also be done. [Read more]
APSU Holiday Dinner Returns to Clarksville this December

Clarksville, TN – A popular Austin Peay State University holiday tradition is returning to campus next month after a more than 10-year hiatus.
“We’re bringing back the holiday musical event centered around a dinner,” Korre Foster, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at APSU, said. “It will be a great opportunity for the Clarksville community to experience a formal sit-down holiday dinner. They will be served a nice meal and all the choral ensembles will perform, as well as soloists.” [Read more]
