Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Tennessee state Representative Joe Pitts often refers to himself as “a proud 1980 graduate of Austin Peay State University,” and on May 9th, he’ll return to his alma mater to deliver the keynote address at the University’s 85th Spring Commencement.

He will speak at both commencement events, at 9:00am and 2:00pm, in the APSU Dunn Center.

Reagan Giving Circle at APSU to have award luncheon

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Reagan Giving Circle at Austin Peay State University will award more than $8,500 in scholarships to 10 APSU female students during its award ceremony next month.

The ceremony will be held at 11:30am, Monday, April 29th in the Clarksville Country Club, located at 334 Fairway Drive, Clarksville. Tickets are $25.00 per person.

APSU Foundation sponsoring raffle for chance to win $20,000 cash in March 2013

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – To help provide scholarships to more students at Austin Peay State University, the APSU Foundation is sponsoring a raffle drawing for a chance to win $20,000 cash.

The raffle drawing will be held during the men’s basketball game between APSU and the University of Tennessee-Martin on Saturday, March 2nd, 2013, in the Dunn Center. It is not necessary to be present to win. [Read more]

APSU presented with deed to Madison Street house

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Standing on the long front porch, Austin Peay State University President Tim Hall peeked through a window to the inside of a house that now belongs to the APSU Foundation.

On December 11th, Heritage Bank President Keith Bennett presented Hall with the deed to 1220 Madison Street, located across the street from McReynolds-Nave and Larson Funeral Home in the historic district.

APSU Woodward Library Society to have fall program

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Three prominent Clarksville automobile dealers, who have been strong supporters of Austin Peay State University athletics for decades, will be inducted into the Red Coat Society, Saturday.

Don Jenkins, owner of Jenkins and Wynne Ford Lincoln Honda ; Gary Mathews, owner of Gary Mathews Automotive Group, and James Corlew, owner of James Corlew Chevrolet Cadillac, will be recognized Saturday during halftime of the Governors’ Sears BracketBusters contest with Youngstown State. Local Homebuilders Association makes donation to two Memorial Scholarships at APSU

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – When members of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Homebuilders Association learned that two scholarships were being set up at Austin Peay State University to honor the memory of two local teenagers, they overwhelmingly agreed to show their support.

Earlier this semester, after the tragic deaths of incoming APSU freshman Jack Amos and Rossview High School senior Amy Stringer, two memorial scholarships were endowed at the University. The scholarships will provide opportunities for future generations to earn college degrees at APSU.

New Scholarship at APSU Honors Longtime Educator Patricia Hancock Richardson

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – In the spring of 2010, two years into her battle with cancer, Patricia Hancock Richardson reminded her husband, James, of an errand he needed to run.

“She said, ‘make sure you get our basketball and football season tickets,’” James Richardson remembered. “ She told me, ‘We’re going to every game.’”

Patricia, known by her friends as Patty, had rooted for the Austin Peay State University Governors since the early 1950s, when she was a varsity cheerleader at the school. In the years that followed, she became a fixture at most home games, cheering on the Governors during good seasons and bad. So that spring, James listened to his wife and bought the tickets. APSU Foundation selects new members to serve for 2011

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Foundation has selected 10 new members for 2011.

The APSU Foundation provides the structure through which the University can work directly with special volunteers and community leaders to enhance the financial well being of the University. The Foundation’s purpose is to financially support the University.

The Foundation is a separate entity and is chartered by the state, with the authority to receive private gifts in support of the University. Through its executive committee, the Foundation makes its own policy decisions. The University provides administrative support to the Foundation. [Read more]

2011 tax year time to think about giving to APSU

Christine Booth, director of major gifts at APSU, said planned giving is becoming a preferred path for individuals who wish to remember the University in their estate plans.
