APSU to debut Trebuchet at Clarksville BBQ Bash

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) will haul its medieval siege machine to the Clarksville BBQ Bash on October 19th, 2019 to hurl pumpkins hundreds of feet.

Bryan Gaither – lab manager for the APSU Department of Physics, Engineering and Astronomy – has been working on the machine, called a trebuchet, for several weeks.

APSU’s “Science on Tap” explores Science of Beer, October 1st

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – On Tuesday, October 1st, 2019,  the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Science on Tap – which drew more than 75 people to Strawberry Alley Ale Works’ Pilsner Room last month at its inaugural gathering – is set to return 5:30pm at the same location.

APSU, Google to lead drone-building workshops in preview of new InnovaTN Games at Riverfest

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – When Austin Peay State University’s Dr. J. Allyn Smith talks black holes, he likes to drop in lots of “fun stuff” and quirkiness.

Take, for instance, his description of a hypernova (which is basically supernova’s bigger and more energetic brother that forms a black hole inside its starry shell): “It becomes what we call a self-eating watermelon, the black hole eats the star from the inside out.”

Clarksville’s Movies in the Park to show “Aquaman” this Saturday

Clarksville's Movies in the ParkClarksville, TN – This Saturday, June 29th, 2019, Movies in the Park will feature “Aquaman” at Heritage Park. In it’s 14th season, Movies in the Parks is the City of Clarksville’s free, outdoor movie series.

Pre-show activities, coordinated by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department, will begin at 6:30pm and include walking on water with Austin Peay State University’s College of STEM and experiencing breathing underwater with Waterdogs Scuba and Safety.
