18th annual Clarksville Writers Conference to be held June 8th-9th

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts & Heritage Council is partnering with the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the Tennessee Arts Commission to once again bring acclaimed authors to town for the 18th Annual Clarksville Writers Conference.
The event will be held Thursday, June 8th, and Friday, June 9th, at the Art + Design Building on the campus of Austin Peay State University.
David George Haskell, writer, and biologist whose book The Forest Unseen: A Year’s Watch in Nature was a finalist for the 2013 Pulitzer Prize in nonfiction, will deliver the keynote address at the conference’s banquet the evening of Thursday, June 8th, at F&M Bank’s The Franklin Room, overlooking the Cumberland River and featuring an incredible view of Historic Downtown Clarksville.

‘Syndemic Sublime’ art exhibition comes to APSU

Clarksville, TN – Laura Splan – a transdisciplinary artist working at the intersections of science, technology, and culture – has brought another biomedical research-driven project to Austin Peay State University (APSU), this one focused on the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.
Splan’s “Syndemic Sublime,” an ongoing series of data-driven computer-generated animations, is this month’s featured exhibition in <terminal>, a space in the Art + Design building at Austin Peay State University’s Clarksville campus that showcases new media art.
APSU to hold Flute Day 2022 on March 27th

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Department of Music will celebrate Flute Day 2022 with a day filled with masterclasses, discussions, and a concert featuring internationally praised flutist Dr. Alexa Still.
The day – on Sunday, March 27th – will include interactive workshops and masterclasses for high school and collegiate players and a question-and-answer discussion on careers in music before culminating with the concert.

The Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts at APSU, in collaboration with MTSU School of Music, APSU Department of Music, and Founding Frothers Coffee, present a FREE performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Coffee Cantata, a comic work about a young woman’s struggle giving up coffee, followed by Opera and Musical Theatre duet favorites, this coming Tuesday, March 15th at 7:00pm.

Jim Diehr Brings His Artistic Journeys to the Customs House Museum with “Visual Songs, Many Verses”

Clarksville, TN – Now through the end of January, the Crouch gallery of the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center is filled with more than 100 pieces of art.
Sculptures, paintings, and pottery all incorporate blue figures, clouds, and woodland creatures from the imagination of local artist Jim Diehr.
