Austin Peay State University honors Tennessee artist Craddock with inaugural fellowship

Clarksville, TN – At 7:00pm on Monday, November 23rd, artist Maysey Craddock will present a public lecture on her work at Austin Peay State University. Craddock is the recipient of the inaugural APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts Tennessee Artist Fellowship.
New exhibit at APSU questions boundaries of female stereotypes

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Trahern Gallery, with support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Art and Design, is sharing the work of artist Britney Jo Carroll with the Clarksville community through October 16th.
Carroll uses mixed-media installations to examine her struggles with the expressive and oppressive traditions within gender roles. In her work, she analyzes herself and encourages viewers to examine his or her unspoken fears and desires. [Read more]
Watercolorist Patsy Sharpe to Show Work at Planters Bank in August

Clarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery will feature an exhibit titled “The Still Life” by Clarksville Artist Patsy Sharpe from Thursday, August 6th – Wednesday, September 30th.
Sharpe is an established painter, a Signature Tennessee Watercolor Society member, and member of many art organizations such as The Miniature Art Society of Florida, the Southern Watercolor Society, the Chestnut Group and the 2RiversPainters. She currently teaches art at Centerstone, as well as the occasional workshop, and heads the Region II Tennessee Watercolor Society’s Annual Exhibition in Clarksville.
APSU to host ninth annual Spring Dance Concert

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Theatre and Dance and Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts’ ninth annual Spring Dance Concert is returning this month, giving students and faculty the opportunity to present their work to the Clarksville community.
The concert is scheduled for five performances: 7:30pm, Wednesday, February 18th; 7:30pm, Thursday, February 19th; 7:30pm, Friday, February 20th; 7:30pm, Saturday, February 21st; and 2:00pm, Sunday, February 22nd. APSU to host annual GuitarFest event

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University and the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts present the annual APSU GuitarFest, which will feature guest artist concerts, lectures and workshops.
The concerts take place on Monday, February 16th and Tuesday, February 17th at 7:30pm in the Music/Mass Communication Building’s Mabry Concert Hall and are free and open to the public.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University and the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts will present the annual APSU GuitarFest this February, featuring guest artist concerts, lectures and master classes.
The concerts takes place at 7.30pm, Monday though Wednesday, February 17th-19th, in the APSU Music/Mass Communication Building’s Mabry Concert Hall and are free and open to the public.
APSU’s VocalEase in concert

The Austin Peay State University Department of Music and the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts are pleased to present VocalEase in a spring performance.
The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 27 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall. Although there is no set price for admission, visitors are asked to pay what they can.
VocalEase is an eight-voice ensemble composed of students in the music department at APSU.
The program will include a variety of popular style music from America’s last 75 years. Many of the selections are jazz arrangements, but the program will also include some Broadway musical and popular music. The show will be presented in a Cabaret-styled format with staging and movement. There will be a few solo selections between ensemble pieces. A live show band composed of APSU students will complement the vocal music.
Valerie Oyen-Larsen, APSU professor of music and director of VocalEase, states that the program “will provide something for everyone, including families, and be highly entertaining.”
