Austin Peay’s 21st Annual Governors Bass Tournament set for May 16th

Clarksville, TN – As final remnants of last week’s snow and ice storm quickly melt away and temperatures rise into the 60s, it is a reminder the 21st annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament is just around the corner.
This year’s edition will be held Saturday, May 16th, at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing, Tennessee, State Park. Last season’s tourney drew 227 boats.
APSU’s Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center presents “Four Black Doctors” keynote

Clarksville, TN – As a part of Black History Month, the Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center is excited to welcome “The Four Black Doctors” to the Morgan University Center Ballroom on February 10th from 5:00pm-7:00pm. The event is free and open to the public.
Jeremy Campbell, PharmD, Corey Guyton, PhD, Steven D. Kniffley Jr., PsyD and Keyon Thompson, DPT, are four Black men who made a promise that changed their lives forever. While undergraduate students, they promised that they would all finish doctoral degrees before the age of 30 – a promise they fulfilled in the spring of 2013. [Read more]

Local Coupon Book Continues In The Fifth Year To Help Clarksville Schools Raise Money and Local Families With Big Savings
Clarksville, TN – For the fifth consecutive year, The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System and Education Foundation have partnered together to sponsor the City Saver Education Funding Campaign that will run now until February 13th, 2015.
Last year’s campaign raised over $200,000 for local schools and the Education Foundation.
During this year’s campaign, all Clarksville-Montgomery County elementary and middle school students will be selling the new 2015 Clarksville City Saver coupon book, which contains thousands of dollars in savings at over 200 local favorite restaurants, attractions and retail stores.

Clarksville, TN – Some years move along at a quiet, steady pace, continuing the traditions and patterns of the previous year before quietly fading into the next. No milestones mark the passage of time, and people often find themselves bored or, worse yet, uninspired.
At Austin Peay State University, 2014 was not that type of year. The last 12 months passed with such speed, thanks to major changes within the University, that the campus community will likely remember this past year as a crucial time in Austin Peay’s progression into a leading institution of higher learning.

Last May entrants were forced to use the back entrance because of flooding. Despite that obstacle, the tourney drew 282 boats — 14 more than in 2012.

APSU Hall of Fame luncheon tickets still available

Clarksville, TN – Tickets for the Austin Peay State University Athletics Hall of Fame luncheon, set for February 1st, are still available.
The cost of the 11:30am luncheon is $10.00 per person and reservations can be made through Tara Pfeifler, 931.221.6119, or the Athletics Office at 931.221.7903.
That day two of the greatest Governors athletes in their respective sports and the department’s longtime sports information director will be inducted to Austin Peay State University Athletics Hall of Fame.
Celebrate APSU Homecoming with Alumni Golf Tournament and 5K Run

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Alumni Relations Office plans to welcome back graduates later this month with two special Homecoming events – the 35th Annual Homecoming Golf Tournament and the Homecoming Scholarship 5K Run.
At 8:00am on Friday, October 25th, alumni and the public are invited to participate in the golf tournament at Swan Lake Golf Course. The event, sponsored by Budweiser of Clarksville, costs $60.00 a person, and the fee includes a ditty bag, refreshments on the golf course and lunch. [Read more]
