Clarksville’s American Red Cross Offers Thanksgiving Cooking and Travel Tips

Clarksville, TN – Millions of Americans will be preparing meals and traveling throughout the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The American Red Cross has safety tips for the kitchen and for the highway.
“More home cooking fires occur on Thanksgiving than on any other day of the year,” said Julie Campos, Chapter Executive, Two Rivers Chapter. “The week of Thanksgiving is also one of the busiest travel periods. We want people to arrive at their destinations, enjoy time with their loved ones and make it home safely.”

American Red Cross launches New App to Recruit Volunteers

Clarksville, TN – The American Red Cross today launched the Team Red Cross App, which allows people to sign up to help, get an overview on basic tasks and receive notifications about Red Cross disaster volunteer opportunities in their community.
“When people see an emergency happening in their community, they often want to help but may not know how,” said Julie Campos, Chapter Executive, Two Rivers Chapter. “The Team Red Cross App provides an easy and quick way for people to sign up to help the Red Cross and support their community.”

Two Rivers Chapter Volunteers Working to Meet Emergency Needs
Clarksville, TN – Severe spring storms and flash floods poured torrential rain over much of Tennessee on Saturday morning and again in the evening.
Eight homes were destroyed from the flood with 26 others sustaining major damage, across 4 counties including Henry, Houston, Montgomery and Stewart. The Red Cross responded immediately to provide food, shelter and emotional support to help families who had been affected by the storms. [Read more]

Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department now offering Lifeguard Certification to the public

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will offer its first Lifeguard Certification Course for non-staff participants seeking the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification.

Clarksville Firefighters Association Local 3180 makes donation to Two Rivers Chapter of the American Red Cross

Clarksville, TN – On Tuesday, the Clarksville Firefighters Association (CFFA) Local 3180 presented a $500.00 check to the Two Rivers Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The Red Cross plans to use the Clarksville Firefighter’s donation to continue to provide disaster relief services in Montgomery County.
The Two Rivers Chapter serves 7 counties across middle and West Tennessee has already provided assistance to 77 families in Montgomery County this year.
