As she tried to maneuver the Spark drone through a small obstacle course set up in front of APSU’s Dunn Center, the breeze pushed the tiny quadcopter to the side just a bit. Clearing the gate was harder than she thought.

Clarksville Police Union’s Cops and Bobbers a Real Catch

Clarksville Police UnionClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Union, comprised of local enforcement officers, held their second annual Cops and Bobbers at Liberty Park’s pond.

There were 50 eager fishers on hand ready to do battle and try to outsmart the elusive fish. There were varying degree of success in that endeavor, but everyone seemed have a good time.

All the participants were provided everything needed for their fishing adventure from tackle boxes to bait. There were also snacks and drinks given out to help keep the boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 12 fueled and strong.

The Austin Peay State University professor and chair of the APSU Department of Teaching and Learning within the Eriksson College of Education downloaded the app earlier this summer, while on a recruiting trip to China, and now whenever she picks up her phone, she learns of another potential international student eager to study at APSU.

Clarksville to unveil Pat Head Summitt statue, life-story display, Friday

Honoring a Champion. Inspiring Greatness

Pat Head Summitt Legacy PlazaClarksville, TN – Through the keen eyes of a sculptor, an architect and an exhibit designer, the Pat Head Summitt Legacy Plaza has come to life at Freedom Point.

A bronze statue of Coach Summitt, hometown hero and legendary University of Tennessee women’s basketball coach, and an interpretative display of her life story will be dedicated at 3:00pmFriday, June 15th, 2018 in Clarksville’s Liberty Park.

“Though her famous ‘stare’ may be missing, our sculpture hopes to embody her passion and fire,” said Brett Grill, sculptor of the Coach Summitt statue. “She was a rare talent, quickly ascending to the highest reaches of her field, which she dominated throughout her career.”

Landscape and construction are now complete at the Pat Head Summitt Legacy Plaza at Freedom Point. But only with the help of a specially built ping pong cannon.

High school students jump into life-size Super Mario experience at APSU

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – High school students are getting a Super Mario Bros.-sized treat this summer at Google-sponsored coding camps at Austin Peay State University.

The College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, or STEM, has put up a life-sized set that depicts the first level of Nintendo’s 1985 classic Super Mario Bros. And it’s interactive, allowing students to run, jump and bash through the game, complete with boing, ping and slide sound effects.
