Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Mackenzie Kelly is the fourth straight Austin Peay State University student to be picked to represent Tennessee at the annual National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Collegiate Advocacy Summit starting today in Washington, D.C.

She and students from across the country are gathering to advocate for music education, specifically the implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act and the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, both important to music education.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – During its June meeting, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Board of Trustees approved six new graduate certificates, which will be offered through the APSU College of Graduate Studies this fall.

Earlier this year, the University began offering graduate education programs, providing working professionals with the training and credentials they need to enhance and elevate their careers.

APSU’s Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA) hosted the Tennessee Arts Commission’s 2018 Tennessee Arts and Arts Education Conference, which allowed CECA to show off the groundbreaking projects taking place at Austin Peay State University.

“I feel proud of what I am,” said the Master of Arts in Teaching recipient.

“I started from zero and now I see myself as …” she said before breaking off, adding later as her smile returned, “I did it. I did it.”

APSU now offering doctoral degree with new Ed.D.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University took a major step forward today with the announcement of the first doctoral degree in the institution’s history. Beginning this fall, the APSU Eriksson College of Education will offer a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Educational Leadership for K-12 professionals looking to advance their careers.

Earlier this month, the program received its final approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) —the region’s higher education accrediting body.

Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery CountyClarksville, TN – The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County reports that as of Thursday, June 21st, 2018 Montgomery County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) counted 52 young kittens and 16 adult felines at its shelter currently ready and available for adoption.

There are dozens more waiting in quarantine and space is always an issue when more animals continue to be surrendered or brought in as strays.

Lili Swann and Ward Jaeger accepted the challenge and succeeded.
