APSU theater, dance students secure record number of internships

Clarksville, TN – For the past three months, 18 students from the Austin Peay State University Department of Theatre and Dance have been busy gaining valuable work experience through a variety of internships and summer study opportunities across the country.
This year’s students span rising sophomores to seniors and represent all four concentrations offered through the department.

APSU School of Nursing donates stethoscopes to Guyana

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) says that earlier this summer, The Stabroek News, “Guyana’s Most Trusted Newspaper Since 1986,” published a story about that country’s nurses needing stethoscopes.
Many of the nurses, working for Guyana’s Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), often have to scrounge for working stethoscopes while examining patients.

Coca-Cola Bottling Works of Tullahoma, Inc. endows scholarship at APSU

Clarksville, TN – Coca-Cola Bottling Works of Tullahoma, Inc. recently pledged $25,000 to the Austin Peay State University Foundation to establish an endowed scholarship program benefiting APSU students.
The agreement was finalized in July 2018. Coca-Cola will present the University with a check for the endowment during the halftime program of the APSU football game at 6:00pm on September 8th at Fortera Stadium.
APSU College of Grad Studies sees record enrollment for fall

Clarksville, TN – Thomas Thornton knew he was pushing it. Classes were set to begin the next week at Austin Peay State University, so if he wanted to enroll in graduate school, he needed to do it that afternoon.
“I just knew I was being a slacker and hadn’t signed up yet,” Thornton, a Clarksville High School science teacher, said.

Hageman Estate gives more than $600,000 to APSU programs in Biology Department

Clarksville, TN – Dr. Ben Stone, Austin Peay State University emeritus professor, grew up the second youngest of seven children, so his interests in biology and education didn’t often make it into the family’s crowded, dinner table conversations.
“In 1953, there wasn’t much encouragement from my family to go to college,” he said.

The late John and Hilda Hageman believed in education and the mission of Austin Peay State University.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) recently partnered with the City of Clarksville to offer currently enrolled APSU students free annual bike-share memberships with Clarksville BCycle.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new campus BCycle station took place on Thursday, August 30th, 2018 outside the APSU Foy Fitness and Recreation Center.

CMCSS to host College and Career Fair

Clarksville, TN – A sock recently went missing inside Archwood, the historic house where Austin Peay State University’s president lives.
The missing garment belonged to Elliott Herzlich, husband of APSU President Alisa White, and the couple decided not to call campus police because they immediately identified a suspect – Yahtzee, the first dog of Austin Peay.
