Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) alumnus Michael Wright and Quality Manufacturing Systems, Inc. (QMSI) recently funded an endowed scholarship through the APSU Foundation to benefit Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) students.
The endowment will be known as the Michael Wright/QMSI Endowed Scholarship. Money from the endowment will be designated for incoming freshmen.
Ribbon cutting for Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library Renovation set for Tuesday, December 11th

Clarksville, TN – Phase 1 of a major renovation of portions of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library have been completed. Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett will preside at a ribbon-cutting to officially open the renovation for use at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 11th, 2018.
The public is invited to this ribbon cutting and to tour the renovated areas and also to see a demonstration of the new book check-in and sorting machine.

Navy Master Chief Mamudu Cole to speak at APSU Military and Veteran Recognition Ceremony December 12th

Clarksville, TN – Force Master Chief Mamudu K. Cole, the highest-ranking noncommissioned officer in the U.S. Navy Education and Training Command and Austin Peay State University alumnus, will be the guest speaker at Austin Peay’s Winter 2018 Military and Veteran Recognition Ceremony next week.
The ceremony, set for 5:30pm on Wednesday, December 12th, 2018 in the Morgan University Center Ballroom, honors Austin Peay’s graduating students who are veterans, reservists or active-duty military personnel.

A Candlelight Christmas Returns to Historic Collinsville

Clarksville, TN – Historic Collinsville will host Candlelight Christmas tours December 14th-15th, 2018 for the first time in 15 years.
During the two evenings from 4:00pm-8:00pm, docents will take guests on guided tours of the pioneer settlement. Each home and structure will be donned with holiday décor appropriate for the 1830s – 1870s era. Guests will also enjoy music and a fireside Christmas story.

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Board of Trustees hosted its winter meetings on November 29th and 30th, 2018 on the APSU campus.
The Board’s Academic Policies and Programs/Student Life Committee, Business and Finance Committee, Audit Committee and Executive Committee all met on Thursday, with the full board convening on Friday morning.

Austin Peay, Montgomery Central High School Spanish Students team up to teach classes to Senior Citizens

Clarksville, TN – Earlier this year, several residents of Fieldstone Place Assisted Living decided they wanted to learn a new language. This group of senior citizens approached Chesney Lancaster, Lifestyle 360 director at Fieldstone, and asked how they could go about taking classes. Lancaster immediately turned to one of the community’s best educational resources – Austin Peay State University (APSU).
APSU acting and counseling students collaborate on disaster training

Clarksville, TN – The survivors were ushered into a large room where they sat in groups, trying to figure out what just happened. One young woman simply cried, unable to control herself.
When family members arrived, the lack of information led to shouting matches, and a group of counseling graduate students, trying to offer help, quickly found themselves overwhelmed.

APSU graphic design students create new logo for Coca-Cola Bottling Works of Tullahoma

Clarksville, TN – Earlier this year, when executives with Coca-Cola Bottling Works of Tullahoma discussed creating a new company logo, they reached out to one of their newest clients – Austin Peay State University (APSU).
On July 1st, 2017, the company became the campus’ exclusive beverage provider, and a year later, Rachel Bush, associate professor of art, heard the company wanted to host a logo design contest. She contacted the Tullahoma office with a different idea.
