Clarksville, TN – Earlier this winter, when Parth Patel visited the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago for the first time, he wasn’t expecting to find a Hindu temple tucked amid the island’s palm trees. “I’m Hindu,” Patel, an Austin Peay State University (APSU) junior, said.
“It was cool seeing the influence there because India is so far away. The temples were very traditional; one had scriptures on it, and I could understand the scriptures because they were in the same dialect,” stated Patel.

APSU Govs Outdoors offers affordable trips to campus, community

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) Govs Outdoors, a program through University Recreation, offers about 10 trips every semester to members of the Foy Fitness & Recreation Center, including Austin Peay students, faculty and staff and members of the surrounding community.

APSU alumnus establishes the Emily Rawlins Allensworth Endowment in memory of his mother

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) alumnus Stephen K. Allensworth recently donated $28,000 to the APSU Foundation to honor the memory of his late mother by creating the Emily Rawlins Allensworth Endowment, an endowed scholarship program to benefit APSU students.
Emily was one of the first students to graduate from Austin Peay Normal School.
Mark S. and Martha Em Raby establish Claudell Wootton Art Education Endowment at APSU

Clarksville, TN – Mark S. and Martha Em Raby recently donated $25,000 to the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Foundation to establish the Claudell Wootton Art Education Endowment, an endowed scholarship program benefiting APSU students.
They chose to make their generous gift to honor the memory of Martha Em’s mother, Claudell Wootton.
APSU to host one-man “Seven Samurai” movement-acting workshops

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Department of Theatre and Dance is thrilled to host Lecoq-trained actor, writer, director and teacher David Gaines.
Gaines will lead two physical-acting workshops on February 15th and 16th and perform an original one-man rendition of the Kurosawa epic “Seven Samurai” 7:00pm February 16th at the Margaret Fort Trahern Laboratory Theatre.

APSU hosting Industry Summit for Veterans wanting to open a Small Business

Clarksville, TN – This February, the Veteran Business Outreach Center, the Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC), the Austin Peay State University Division of External Affairs and the APSU Office of Career Services will join forces to help military-connected individuals interested in opening their own businesses.
From 9:00am to 3:00pm on February 22nd, the three entities will host the APSU Industry Summit for Veterans: Boots to Business Reboot at 416 College Street.
U.S. State Department diplomat to visit Austin Peay State University February 5th-6th

Clarksville, TN – This February, Austin Peay State University (APSU) students will get the rare opportunity to meet a top-level U.S. diplomat when M. André Goodfriend, director of the U.S. State Department’s Office of eDiplomacy, visits campus for a series of talks.
The Office of eDiplomacy, founded in 2003, seeks to “innovative diplomacy powered by knowledge leadership, superior customer support and collaborative technology.”
