Board moves APSU closer to offering second doctoral degree

Clarksville, TN – On Friday morning, Austin Peay State University (APSU) moved a step closer to offering its second doctoral degree, with the aim of addressing a mental health crisis currently affecting many military communities.
During its spring meeting, the APSU Board of Trustees approved moving forward with a Doctor of Psychology degree in counseling psychology with a concentration in serving military personnel, veterans and their families.

Clarksville Police Department to hold annual Run for C.O.P.S. 5K Run/Walk on May 11th, 2019

Clarksville, TN – The Fourth Annual Run for C.O.P.S. will kick off the 2018 National Law Enforcement Week with a fun, non-competitive, fitness event for the whole family. This 5k will take place in Historic Downtown Clarksville starting at the Clarksville Police Department and going through the downtown area.
The event will take place Saturday, May 11th, 2019 from 9:00am until 11:00am.
Volunteers sought to help clean up Clarksville Parks after Flooding

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is seeking volunteers to help clean up City parks following the recent flooding that left behind debris when the Cumberland River receded.
Park cleanups will begin Monday, March 18th, 2019 at McGregor and Liberty Parks and continue until all debris is removed.

Busy. And amazing.
She started off the semester as a legislative intern in the Tennessee General Assembly (one of a record 11 from APSU this year). And during her first week on Capitol Hill, she found out she’d won the crown of Miss Black Tennessee US Ambassador.

Austin Peay State University sets fundraising goal of $200,000 for third annual Govs Give online giving campaign

Clarksville, TN – Beginning April 8th, 2019 Austin Peay State University (APSU) will launch Govs Give, its third annual 72-hour online giving event.
The goal for this year’s campaign is to collect $200,000 for the APSU colleges’ Funds of Excellence, along with funds for athletics and student affairs.
APSU’s Eriksson College of Education welcomes delegation of Chinese teachers

Clarksville, TN – For nearly 90 years, Austin Peay State University (APSU) has provided professional development training for local teachers, but in late February, the Eriksson College of Education expanded its services well beyond the Middle Tennessee region.
On Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 a delegation of 15 preschool and kindergarten teachers and administrators from Beijing, China, arrived on campus for a special, week-long training symposium.
Two CMCSS Teachers will be honored at CMA Foundation Music Teachers of Excellence Awards

Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) says the CMA Foundation, the national music education nonprofit and the philanthropic arm of the Country Music Association, will host its fourth annual Music Teachers of Excellence Awards on April 30th, 2019.
Clarksville High band teacher Robin Johnston and Barksdale Elementary music teacher Denise Rives are among the honorees.
