Fort Campbell, KY – The return of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team from the Khowst Province of Afghanistan continued last night with the arrival of 167 “Red Knight Rakkasans” part of the the 3-320th Field Artillery unit.

Family and friends of the returning soldiers had gathered together to give their loved ones a proper welcome home.

Free Pool Membership to be Given Away at the Indoor Aquatic Center Grand Opening

Clarksville, TN – The New Providence Pool, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, has a new look and new name. After weeks of work and just hours of inflation, the pool is now sheltered with a bubble like dome which will allow for year-round use of the Indoor Aquatic Center.

The “Dive in the Dome” grand opening is still scheduled for tomorrow, January 29th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm but due to snow and frigid temperatures, the inflation of the dome was delayed from its schedule this week and visitors looking to take a swim will experience much cooler water temperatures than expected. Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks & Recreation is looking forward to the opening of the much anticipated Indoor Aquatic Center. Beginning this morning at 7:00am, New Providence Pool, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, will get a new look- it will be sheltered with a bubble like dome to allow for year-round use. Indoor Aquatic Center’s Dome was inflated yesterday

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville inflated the dome on the new Indoor Aquatic Center yesterday, one of the last major steps before the opening on Saturday.

The new Indoor Aquatic Center will officially open to the public this Saturday, January 29th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm with a dive in the dome celebration. The opening will feature give-a-ways, “dome”onstrations, contests, and a free gift to the first 50 people to purchase a pool pass! The center will also offer FREE swimming to the public all day long from 10:00am to 6:00pm on opening day.

The Clarksville AcademyClarksville, TN – Martin Smith and Malcolm Smith have been nominated to the 2011 McDonald’s All American Basketball team. This is such an honor to make it this far in the selection process. The final announcement of the team will be February 10th.

Martin and Malcolm will be recognized for their nomination on Tuesday, February 1st between the boys and girls games (approximately 7:00pm).

“The reason we’re offering this free day is that public transportation throughout middle Tennessee, and especially in Clarksville, is becoming more and more important due to our community’s growth and to rising gas prices. People are looking for better ways to get around town while saving money, saving time and avoiding traffic congestion,” says Jimmy Smith, CTS Director. “With this free day, we’re inviting all Clarksville citizens and visitors who haven’t had a chance to ride the bus to do so.
