Humane Society of Clarksville – Montgomery County (HSCMC)

Clarksville, TN – Tickets for the The Belk Charity Event will be sold today, Saturday, April 9th, between 1:00pm-3:00pm at the Belk store at Governors Square Mall. The Humane Society of Clarksville Montgomery County will be at the entrance facing Wilma Rudolph Blvd.

Participating charities (including the Humane Society of Clarksville Montgomery County) will be selling Belk Charity Day tickets for just $5.00 each. All proceeds from in-store ticket sales are divided equally among all charities.

Dr. Trahern Receives TBR Philanthropy Award Because of Generosity to APSU

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Dr. Joseph B. Trahern Jr. was presented the 2011 Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor’s Award of Excellence in Philanthropy during the 53rd Annual Tower Club Dinner meeting at Austin Peay State University, held April 1st.

APSU President Tim Hall, who nominated Trahern for the award, said, “Though Dr. Trahern never taught at APSU, our institution has been fortunate enough to be the recipient of his extreme generosity. As a native of Clarksville, he understands the important role APSU plays in this community.”

Library Card Drive Kicks Off on April 9th

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public LibraryClarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library is driving for more library card holders. Its campaign “Where Books Are Just The Beginning” challenges the public to sign up for a new library card or to dust off that old library card and visit the library to see what exciting services it can provide for free.

The library will kickoff this special event on Saturday, April 9th from 11:00am to 2:00pm with a showcase of library offerings along with special events including a variety of family-friendly games, and also a display of motorcycles from Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association in the parking lot. Door prize giveaways will be announced every half hour during the three-hour event.

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department will be holding a four (4) hour Student Traffic Awareness Training class for Clarksville Montgomery County high school students who have a learner’s permit or driver’s license.

Local Dentists Present $1,000 Check to the CPD Youth Coalition

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – Dr. Stanley Montee, DDS and Dr. Carol Montee, DDS presented the Clarksville Police Department a personal donation in the amount of $1,000 for the Clarksville Police Department’s Youth Coalition. The CPD Youth Coalition is a unique program which works with “at risk” juvenile offenders.

The Youth Coalition is a different approach to law enforcement for “at risk” offenders. The approach is a diversion from the old standard of using punitive means for the young offenders and is geared toward breaking patterns of behavior and providing useful life skills. The check was presented to Chief Ansley and the Youth Coalition’s Board of Directors at Police Headquarters.

Gospel Skate Night to Help Olivia fight Leukemia

LEAP OrganizationClarksville, TN – Olivia Hardy is an 8 year old female who has been recently diagnosed on October 21st, 2010 with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Her mother is on a leave of absence to care for her until she is able to return to school. Olivia’s father who was the sole financial provider lost his job 3 weeks before Christmas. Join us in this fundraiser to assist Olivia in receiving treatment. [Read more]
