Vietnam Veterans of America LogoClarksville, TN – It is a solemn occasion when a nation gathers together to honor its soldiers as we do each year on Memorial Day. It is important not only to honor those who lived to come home, but even more importantly to remember those who did not.

This was a solemn year as there remains of two soldiers who had been missing in action had been returned, that leaves 30 from the State of Tennessee who have yet to return home. Each one was honored in a ceremony held in front of the William O. Beach Civic Center at Veterans Plaza in Clarksville Tennessee on Sunday evening.

More than a year ago, APSU launched Degree Compass, a course recommendation system to help students stay on track toward graduation by. It was dubbed “the Netflix effect” because it provides students with personalized recommendations based on their academic transcript, similar to the way Netflix makes movie suggestions to customers. Clarksville GreenwayClarksville, TN – Saturday, June 2nd is National Trails Day! The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department and “Friends of the Clarksville Greenway” are celebrating with a clean-up from 8:00am to 10:00am at the Clarksville Greenway, located at 1101 Pollard Road.

National Trails Day, organized by the American Hiking Society, is celebrated across the country as a way to inspire the public to discover and learn about our nation’s trail system. Those interested in volunteering can contact Melissa Adkins at 931.645.7476

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Office of Public Relations and Marketing at Austin Peay State University won five awards during the Tennessee College Public Relations Association spring conference and awards contest held May 17th-18th at Middle Tennessee State University.

TCPRA – an alliance of communicators across the state representing public and private colleges and universities, technical schools, technology centers and community colleges – awarded gold, silver and bronze distinctions in various writing, design, publication and photography categories. More than 150 entries were received for the contest period between April 1st, 2011, and March 31st, 2012. [Read more]
