Clarksville, TN – Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers will visit the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library on Thursday, June 21st at 10:30am to increase awareness of Raise Your Hand Tennessee.
She will read to a group of children and speak about the importance of supporting literacy efforts in Montgomery County. Raise Your Hand Tennessee is a statewide effort by United Ways of Tennessee to recruit volunteers to mentor, tutor, and read to children. [Read more]

APSU to hold Tennessee Business Tax Seminar July 17th
Clarksville, TN – In cooperation with the Tennessee Department of Revenue, Austin Peay State University’s Center for Extended and Distance Education will hold the annual Tennessee Business Tax seminar from 8:00am to 5:00pm on Tuesday, July 17th.
The seminar will be held in the Morgan University Center. Representatives from the Tennessee Department of Revenue, the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development and the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury will facilitate sessions related to business taxes. APSU’s Dunn Center floor receiving extreme makeover
Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University’s Dunn Center floor is getting more than a facelift.
After seeing part of the floor twice replaced in the past decade, a whole new surface will be in place when the 2012 Austin Peay State University volleyball season opens this fall–call it Extreme Makeover APSU style.
After 13 graduations, including 11 from the local high schools, were concluded in late May, the floor project began with the removal of the entire existing floor in Dave Aaron Arena, to be replaced by a state-of-the-art PermaFlex flooring system. [Read more]
Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan introduces Summer Night Lights Program
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, in conjunction with the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department and the Clarksville Police Department, is introducing a new program for youth and their families. Summer Night Lights is an eight week program, which will run from June 14th through August 3rd on Thursday and Friday nights.
The program will take place at two locations. On Thursdays, the event will be held at the Kleeman Community Center, 166 Cunningham Lane, from 6:00pm–9:30pm. On Friday evenings, it will take place at the Burt-Cobb Community Center/Dixon Park, 1011 Franklin Street, from 6:00pm–10:30pm. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University to offer Safe School Initiative Threat Training

Clarksville Academy takes the Next Step in Technology
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy, a Pre-K through 12th grade private college preparatory school is excited to announce that all of its 6th-8th grade students will receive the iPad 3 when school begins in the fall. This is the second phase in the 1:1 program launched last fall. Currently all 9th-12th grade students have a MacBook that is used in all their classes. The addition of iPads to the Intermediate School only enhances the technological experience at CA.
Upper School students will go into their second year of using the MacBook in their classrooms. Last year’s students loved this experience and found it helped to better prepare them for what lies ahead in college.
