Volunteer Positions still available for this year’s Riverfest
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation is currently seeking volunteers to help with soft drink sales, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Adventure Zone children’s area as well as the Cornhole Tournament on September 7th and 8th at McGregor Park.
Volunteers may sign up for the timevslot(s) that best fit their schedule and availability at the Hands on Nashville website. The process is simple, visit www.hon.org and search “Riverfest.” Volunteers may then select the area in which they would like to volunteer and then select the timeslot occurrence that best fits their schedule.

Austin Peay State University Employees share their recent Accomplishments
Clarksville, TN – Several faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University announce their recent professional and scholarly activities.
Dr. Clark Maddux, associate professor of early American literature, was elected recently as president of the APSU Woodward Library Society. Ellen Taylor in the College of Education was elected vice president. [Read more]
Riverfest Regatta adds new plastic bottle division to race
Clarksville, TN – The Riverfest Regatta, sponsored by U.S. Bank, is not your typical boat race. The boats racing down the Cumberland River Saturday morning, September 8th, will be made of cardboard, a few other approved materials and this year, plastic bottles!
Not only will teams be racing for bragging rights, but trophies will also be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place teams in each division.
Competition will be in five divisions: Adult Open, Business and Industry, Church/Civic, City Department and Military.
Austin Peay State University named “2012 Great College To Work For”
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a new survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education.
In addition, APSU was the only public university in Tennessee to make the list.
The results, released today in The Chronicle’s fifth annual report on The Academic Workplace, are based on a survey of more than 46,000 employees at 294 colleges and universities.

“We’ve had area elementary teachers, area high school teachers, Austin Peay faculty, Austin Peay staff, Austin Peay alumni,” Dr. Nell Rayburn, chair of the Austin Peay State University Department of Mathematics and Statistics, said. “We have people who work for the city of Clarksville. Clarksville Christian School Adds School Counselor
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Christian School is pleased to announce the addition of a school guidance counselor, Mrs. Yvette Childs. Mrs. Childs received her Bachelor of Science degree in Middle School Education and her Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling from Murray State University.
She has nine years experience as an educator, including five years as a teacher in the middle grades, and four years as a middle school counselor with the Clarksville Montgomery County School System.
