Russ Shemberger takes 2nd overall at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park 5K run

Restore Performance MassageClarksville, TN – Russ Shemberger, a licensed massage therapist at Restore Performance Massage on Madison Street in Clarksville, placed second overall and won his age group (45-49) at the Run Through the Forest 5K held Saturday, September 22nd at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park in Dawson Springs, KY.

A veteran triathlete, Shemberger recently finished the triathlon season and is now training for the Bowling Green Half-Marathon in Bowling Green, Ky, along with a number of 5K races.

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University National Alumni Association will sponsor both a golf tournament and 5K scholarship run during Homecoming 2012, and those will be open to the public.

The 34th Annual Homecoming Golf Tournament will be at 8:00am, Friday, October 26th at Swan Lake Golf Course. Cost is $60.00 per person, and advance registration is required. Fee includes ditty bag, refreshments on the golf course and light lunch. The event is sponsored by Budweiser of Clarksville. [Read more]

Christy Walker, editorial cartoonist for the newspaper, was named a finalist for an individual Pacemaker award, presented annually to the country’s top college journalists and college media outlets. [Read more]

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University has been named by G.I. Jobs magazine as Military Friendly School for 2013.

The honor ranks APSU in the top 15 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide, according to a letter from the magazine’s publisher, Rich McCormack. The magazine surveyed more than 12,000 schools, according to the announcement. [Read more]

Raven Brown, Clarksville High School, received the Presidential Scholarship. Brown plans to major in nursing at APSU.

Kristen Austion, Montgomery Central High School, received the Dean’s Scholarship. Austion plans to major in biology at APSU. [Read more]
