APSU to hold Military/Veteran Graduate Recognition Ceremony December 12th for Fall Graduates

Clarksville, TN – Active duty and military veteran students who will graduate from Austin Peay State University in December will receive APSU’s military coin.
The military and veteran graduate recognition and coin presentation ceremony, with the theme “All Hail to Those Who Serve,” is scheduled for 5:00pm, Wednesday, December 12th in the Music/Mass Communication Building Mabry Concert Hall. The event is open to the public.

The fiscal cliff refers to a substantial tightening of fiscal policy in 2013. Monetary policy cannot offset the cliff’s negative effect on the economy. However, it would be surprising if a deal were not reached, if not by the end of this year, then in early 2013. Due to concerns about the long-term budget picture, some of the cliff is almost certain to get through.
Alright, we’ve been over this and over this, and I’m going to keep going over this until I stop getting questions. Okay? There are two issues with the fiscal cliff. One is that the federal budget is on an unsustainable trajectory. No one disputes that or argues that we shouldn’t address it. There’s broad (not universal) agreement that everything should be on the table, tax increases, the possible elimination of deductions, entitlement reforms, and cuts to defense and other types of spending. That’s not what the fiscal cliff is about. The fiscal cliff refers to doing too much too soon to reduce the deficit and the negative impact that would have on the economy. [Read more]

APSU graduate student James DeMoss receives Carlisle Award

Clarksville, TN – James DeMoss, an Austin Peay State University graduate student majoring in English, was selected November 17th as the recipient of the prestigious Carlisle Award at the closing ceremonies of the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature (TISL).
He and nine other SGA student leaders represented APSU during four days of legislative debate in the state’s capital. [Read more]
Go Commando Half Marathon donates $40,000 to Local Organizations
Clarksville, TN – The Go Commando Half Marathon and 5k presented by CDE Lightband announced Thursday they would donate $40,000 to local non-profits and community organizations. The largest recipients, Clarksville Area YMCA and Fort Campbell Historical Foundation were on hand to accept the donations.

Austin Peay State University to break ground on new Animal Science Facility on November 30th
Clarksville, TN – In 1961, a group of Austin Peay State College agriculture students built a hay barn at the school’s farm off Pickens Road to house an animal husbandry operation.
At the time, the facility was more than adequate for the small college, but in recent years, the University’s Department of Agriculture has experienced unprecedented growth.
