Getting home in a pandemic – An APSU exchange student’s adventure out of France
Clarksville, TN – Late that night, while Austin Peay State University (APSU) freshman Madison Morgan finished her laundry, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the European Union was closing its borders.
Beginning the next day at noon, no one would be able to fly out of France’s Charles De Gaulle Airport. Morgan watched Macron on her smartphone.

Montgomery County Government has Job Openings
Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government currently has 22 positions available throughout various county departments. There are more than 40 unique departments in the county that range from emergency services to information systems to parks and recreation.
The jobs presently available include building maintenance tech, database administrator, GIS functional support specialist, part-time title clerk, administrative assistant, adult probation officer, case officer; part-time judicial commissioner, school resource officer, deputy jail, dentist, registered nurse, part-time shelter veterinarian, control officer, animal care technician, parks janitorial tech, natural resources and program manager, part-time attendant, civil engineer, truck driver, EMT, and paramedic.
APSU hosting virtual celebration for graduates on May 8th
Clarksville, TN – Earlier this year, Lacy Marlin told her friends and family to mark May 8th on their calendars because that was the day of her commencement at Austin Peay State University (APSU). Then in March, the coronavirus pandemic caused the University to postpone the annual spring celebration.

Bi-County Solid Waste Management makes changes to Recycling Program that take effect July 1st
Montgomery County, TN – Bi-County Solid Waste Management’s Board of Directors met earlier this month to discuss changes to the current recycling program. Bi-County is fiscally responsible for the management of waste and recycling for Montgomery County and Stewart County.
Over the past few years, the recycling market has changed and landfill management costs have increased. After reviewing the program’s policies and finances, the Board voted to approve changes to paper and cardboard recycling.
Gateway Chamber Orchestra to take part in The Big Payback
Clarksville, TN – Gateway Chamber Orchestra is once again participating in The Big Payback, a 24-hour, online giving event created to help Middle Tennessee nonprofits raise funds vital to continuing their work and directly improving the community around them. Clarksville, TN – Last week, the Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC), housed within the Austin Peay State University (APSU) College of Business, hosted a public COVID-19 Coronavirus webinar.
