Clarksville, TN – Road closures for this week have been announced for the 11th Annual Rivers & Spires Festival in downtown Clarksville. The following streets will be closed:
Wednesday, April 17th Beginning at 7:00am- Public Square in front of F&M Bank
Thursday, April 18th Beginning at 7:00am– All of Public Square,Franklin Street from First Street to Public Square First Street from Franklin Street to Main Street and Strawberry Alley
Rivers and Spires Festival 2013 Miss River Queen and Miss River Teen Crowned
Clarksville, TN – Sarah Gross has been named Miss River Queen 2013, while Hope Parker will reign as the new Miss River Teen.
The new title holders were crowned at the pageant held Saturday, April 13th at Austin Peay State University’s Clement Auditorium.

Student Job Fair May 2nd
Clarksville, TN – On Thursday, May 2nd, a Student Job Fair will be held at the New Providence Community Policing Center, 640 Providence Boulevard in Clarksville.
This free event is hosted by Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts.
This free event will be from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. More than 15 employers ready to hire will be in attendance.
Indoor Aquatic Center to host Special Needs Night
Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is excited to host Special Needs Night at the Indoor Aquatic Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, on Saturday, April 27th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
The event is open to children and adults with mental of physical disabilities and their families. Cost to attend is $1.00 per person, including family members who may not be swimming.
15 APSU Faculty members chosen as Summer Research Fellows
Clarksville, TN – Fifteen faculty members at Austin Peay State University have been chosen as awardees in the Summer Research Fellowship Program (SRFP), an initiative to encourage the development of research/creative activity projects at the University.
The SRFP awards up to $5,000 for selected proposals by tenured or tenure-track faculty to develop a research or creative activity project that should place them in a better position to seek external funding.

Manna Cafe to host Mobile Pantry April 13th
Clarksville, TN – Manna Café Ministries will conduct a Mobile Pantry on Saturday, April 13th from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Deliverance Outreach Temple Church, 851 Garrettsburg Road.
At this event Manna Café will be giving away food to anyone in the community needing assistance with groceries. A valid ID must be presented to receive a food box at the Mobile Pantry event. [Read more]
Red River Sirens to hold Car Wash April 20th
Clarksville, TN – Have a dirty car, motorcycle, bicycle, moped, or truck?? Clarksville Roller Derby’s Red River Sirens are hosting a car wash April 20th, 2013, at Walgreens on the corner of Old Trenton Road and Wilma Rudolph Boulevard from 10:00am until 4:00pm.
This donation-only car wash will benefit the Red River Sirens in their upcoming third season. Come out and support your local roller derby team. [Read more]
Two APSU Students earn prestigious Goldwater Scholarships
Clarksville, TN – Administrators at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) were probably pretty excited last month when they learned one of their students had earned a highly competitive Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship.
To the south, officials at the University of Tennessee likely experienced a similar rush when they heard one of their students was also named a Goldwater Scholar.
