Governor’s Square Mall to host Mom and Kids Expo Saturday, May 11th
Expo to include Fashion Show, Character Appearances, Face Painting, Kids Activities and Specialty Vendors
Clarksville, TN – Governor’s Square Mall will be hosting a Mom & Kids Expo on Saturday, May 11th. The event will take place from 10:00am–6:00pm in Center Court Swag bags will be given away to the first 100 guests.
Specialty vendors including Scentsy, Stella & Dot, Origami Owl, Miche Bags and more, will be showcasing their products. Family activities will include face painting and balloon animals from 10:00am–12:00pm and character appearances from 10:00am–4:00pm. [Read more]
Student Job Fair in Clarksville a Huge Success
Clarksville, TN – The Student Job Fair hosted by Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts was a huge success. Over 400 students attended the Job Fair, Thursday, May 2nd and were successful in applying for summer jobs as well as discussing their future education plans with four institutions of higher learning.
“Great thanks to all the employers that attended as well as APSU, Nashville State Community College (Clarksville Campus), Tennessee Technology Center (Clarksville Campus) and Daymar Institute,” said State Representative Joe Pitts (D-Clarksville). “This event would not have been successful without the hard work of Melinda Williams and Wayne Simpson of the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.”
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department announces Zumba to return to the Crow Community Center

Governor’s Square Mall recruiting Fashion Advisory Board Members for 2013-2014 School Year
Interested Students are asked to bring Application and copy of most recent Grades to Interviews May 11th in the Food Court
Clarksville, TN – Governor’s Square Mall is looking for approximately 20 high school students interested in participating in the 2013-2014 Fashion Advisory Board (FAB).
The Fashion Advisory Board is made up of high school students who have a passion for fashion, retail and marketing. The program is open to any current high school students with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
As a member of the Fashion Advisory Board students will represent Governor’s Square Mall in an ambassador-like position. [Read more]
APSU Veterans Upward Bound now enrolling
Clarksville, TN – Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) at Austin Peay State University is now enrolling veterans for free COMPASS test preparation and college prep classes.
The program is free and assists veterans with the transition to higher education. VUB offers refresher courses in mathematics, English, reading and computer literacy as well as seminars on time management and study skills. [Read more]

Montgomery County to hold Grand Opening for Horseshoe Pits at Civitan Park
Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government invites the public to the Grand Opening Ceremony for the Horseshoe Pits at Civitan Park on Saturday, May 11th at 9:00am.
The horseshoe pits are located on the backside of the baseball fields at Civitan Park, 650 Bellamy Lane. The ceremony will also include the rededication of the Marvin Smith Pavilion.

Shemberger places in top 10 age group at Rev3 Olympic Triathlon
Clarksville, TN – Russ Shemberger, a licensed sports massage therapist at Restore Performance Massage on Madison Street in Clarksville, finished sixth in his age group in the Rev3 Olympic Triathlon held Sunday, May 5th in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Shemberger finished the approximately 1-mile swim, 25-mile bike and 6.2-mile run with a total time of 2:41 and placed sixth in his age group (male 45-49).
Clarksville Parks and Recreation celebrates National Kids to Parks Day with two fun events
Clarksville, TN – Saturday, May 18th is National Kids to Parks Day! The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating with two events that can get children out of the house and having a ball.
The Spring Family Campout will be held Saturday, May 18th at Billy Dunlop Park, located at 1930 East Boy Scout Road. Families can camp overnight at the park for only $20.00 per family, up to six members, or $5.00 per individual. Center for Entrepreneurship established at Austin Peay State University
Clarksville, TN – For Dr. John Volker, the establishment of the new Center for Entrepreneurship at Austin Peay State University “is a dream come true.”
“My excitement knows no boundaries,” Volker, a professor in the APSU College of Business, said.
Volker will serve as director of the new center, which was officially announced during a special event May 3rd on campus.
