Farm Credit Mid-America presents APSU Department of Agriculture with $50,000 donation
Clarksville, TN – When Farm Credit Mid-America set out to invest in the next generation of American farmers, the Kentucky-based lender looked south to Austin Peay State University.
That’s because APSU is home to the fastest growing college department of agriculture in Tennessee, with student enrollment in that program increasing by 75 percent in the last five years.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Billy Dunlop Park to get facelift this Saturday
Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation has partnered with Freudenberg Filtration Technologies of Hopkinsville, Kentucky to complete a Company Service Project at Billy Dunlop Park on Saturday, September 28th, 2013.
The project will consist of replacing the gravel that covers the playground with a softer wood mulch and clearing out brush near the walking bridge. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University Community School for the Arts offers craft workshops on Saturdays this fall
Clarksville, TN – The holidays are quickly approaching, and the Austin Peay State University Community School for the Arts wants to be a one-stop shop for individuals interested in making their own decorations, greeting cards and gifts.

American Cancer Society Relay For Life Kickoff Rally on October 1st at Clarksville’s Hilldale Baptist Family Life Center
Clarksville, TN – On October 1st, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life® campaign of Montgomery County will officially get underway as event volunteers and participants gather at the Hilldale Baptist Family Life Center for a kickoff rally to launch their fundraising efforts for the year.
In addition to a delicious meal and fellowship with some of Clarksville’s finest volunteers, the rally will feature speakers from the community who have benefited from funds raised at Relay, will honor cancer survivors, will recognize this past year’s participating teams and their contributions toward this effort, and the award-winning step team from West Creek High School will perform.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation looking for vendors for “Handmade Holidays”
Clarksville, TN – The Wilma Rudolph Event Center, located at Liberty Park, is currently seeking craft vendors to participate in Handmade Holidays.
This year’s two-day event is scheduled to take place November 16th, 2013 from 10:00am to 6:00pm and November 17th, 2013 from noon to 5:00pm.
APSU Employees share recent professional developments, activities
Clarksville, TN – Faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced a number of publications, conferences and credentials as part of their professional and scholarly activities.
Michele Tyndall, project manager in the APSU Office of Public Relations and Marketing, and Dr. Melony Shemberger, former assistant director of communication at APSU, will present a session at The Council for Advancement and Support Education’s District III Conference in Orlando, FL, this February. Shemberger now is assistant professor of journalism at Murray State University. [Read more]
