Nashville State announces Fall 2020 Class Options
Nashville, TN – Dear Nashville State Community,
Nashville State’s priority remains the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. Therefore, we are adjusting our Fall 2020 course schedule to reduce the time required on campus while still maintaining quality in academic programs and student learning outcomes.
With that in mind, we have developed five different ways you can take classes this fall:
Austin Peay State University alumni, former professor Dawn Larsen helps to launch new podcast, ‘Ozarks Haints N Hooch’
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) alum and former communication professor Dawn Larsen has joined a new podcast about Ozark lore and history. The podcast premieres Wednesday, July 1st, 2020 on Podbean.

APSU history graduate lands prestigious scholarship at Polish university
Clarksville, TN – A Gov is going to Poland’s prestigious Jagiellonian University in Krakow at the end of September. Nicholas Herrud, a recent Austin Peay State University (APSU) history graduate and Spring Hill, Tennessee, native, will begin his Master of Arts focusing on Polish studies.
APSU moves 2020 Homecoming to October 10th
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) officials recently announced this year’s homecoming festivities will be moved to October 10th, 2020 when the Governors take on the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at 3:00pm in Fortera Stadium.
APSU names environmental expert as campus’ new sustainability coordinator
Clarksville, TN – Olivia Herron, the organizer of Miami University’s popular 2020 RecycleMania competition, was recently named sustainability coordinator at Austin Peay State University (APSU). She will begin her new role on July 1st, 2020 overseeing all campus recycling, promoting the Great Green Idea to APSU students, leading the EcoGovs Project for staff and faculty and chairing the University’s Sustainable Campus Fee Committee.
APSU’s professional mad scientist bringing Gov School demos to Zoom
Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) professional mad scientist is at it again.
Each summer, Bryan Gaither orchestrates several science demonstrations during the Governor’s School for Computational Physics.

CDE Lightband honors outgoing Board Chairman Wayne Wilkinson
Clarksville, TN – Charles Dickens wrote, “It was the best of times…it was the age of wisdom…it was the epoch of belief…it was the season of Light…it was the spring of hope…”
It is with great adoration and sadness, CDE Lightband said farewell to Chairman Wayne Wilkinson at the Power Board Meeting Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020.

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System selects Erin Hedrick as K-12 Virtual Learning administrator
Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System announces that Erin D. Hedrick has been selected as the administrator of the new CMCSS K-12 Virtual Learning option. She has served as principal of Sango Elementary School since 2015.
Austin Peay State University Southeastern Grasslands Initiative gets $800,000 gift from BAND Foundation
Clarksville, TN – The BAND Foundation of Washington, D.C., has continued its commitment to Austin Peay State University (APSU) through a recent gift to the APSU Foundation to benefit the Southeastern Grasslands Initiative (SGI). This contribution brings the organization’s total giving amount to date to more than $800,000.
APSU’s Whiteside named to 2020 Millennium Leadership Initiative
Washington, D.C. – Austin Peay State University (APSU) vice president for legal affairs Dannelle Whiteside was recently named to the 2020 class of the Millennium Leadership Initiative (MLI), a premier leadership development program of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).
