Austin Peay State University Phi Kappa Phi chapter awarded literacy grant
Clarksville, TN – The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi (PKP)—the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines—recently presented John Blake, Austin Peay State University associate professor of engineering technology, with a 2014 Literacy Grant. Blake, president of APSU’s PKP chapter, is one of 14 recipients nationwide to receive the award.

Clarksville Regional Airport announces Apron Improvements
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Regional Airport (KCKV) announced it has completed the bid selection for a $3.2 million apron improvements package that will greatly expand the airport’s accessibility and aircraft parking capabilities.
The improvements include a completely reconstructed apron area with two new helicopter landing pads, a new tie down area supporting 55 aircraft and structural improvements to the apron design that expand the airport’s service capabilities.
Uncle Joe’s Barber Shop raises funds in honor of fallen Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputy
Montgomery County, TN – A local barber that Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy David “Bubba” Johnson used to frequent and the shop he works with raised $350.00 in his honor during a charity haircut day recently.
Barbers with Uncle Joe’s Barber Shop presented Sheriff John Fuson with the check today, which will be added to funds that will be used for a trip to the National Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony in Washington, D.C. where Johnson’s name will be added to the memorial.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department offers Mother-Son Game Night
Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a memorable evening for mother and son couples on Thursday, July 24th.
Couples will get to build their own board game, play giant board games and enjoy a pizza and ice cream buffet.
Austin Peay State University adds solar canopy to 9th Street parking lot
Clarksville, TN – On sunny afternoons, the electric meter attached to the Austin Peay State University Hemlock Semiconductor Building won’t be breaking any speed records.
That’s because, in addition to the solar panels on the building’s roof, a new solar parking canopy in the neighboring 9th Street parking lot will feed even more of the sun’s energy into the electrical system, keeping utility costs down.

Monsters University is about Mike, a young monster who dreams of being scary when he grows up. When he grows up, Mike enrolls at Monsters University as a first year scare major. There, he meets Sulley, someone he’s not exactly friends with.

Nearly three in 10 U.S. adults do not spend time outside on a daily basis and of those who do, almost half spend less than 30 minutes in the fresh air according to a new survey released by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs.
IDB announces Wally Crow as New Chairman
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board (IDB) is pleased to announce Wally Crow as the Chairman of the Board for the 2014-2015 term.
Crow is a contract employee with the Directorate of Public Works at Fort Campbell and the owner of Crow Engineering.
