Austin Peay State University ROTC students named top cadets at summer training program
Clarksville, TN – Three Austin Peay State University students were recognized as outstanding ROTC cadets during last month’s Leader Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) training at Fort Knox, KY.
Ryan Krause and Sean Frazzini were both named the top cadets in their separate regiments during the five-week summer training course.

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery is now taking reservations to host free fantasy football draft parties. Each party will receive:
A “Kilt Girl Commissioner” to assist with the draft, Dry Erase board or individual paper draft boards, Free wifi, Team roster sheets, Door prize drawing, and Free appetizer with entree purchase and Miller Lite specials, including $2.00 draughts.
Crow Community Center to host a new session of Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Tai Chi for Arthritis program
Clarksville, TN – The Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, will host a new session of Tai Chi this fall! Tai Chi will take place Wednesdays from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, August 20th through October 8th.
Instructed by Stuart Bonnington, this program is open to adults of any age who may reap the benefits of Tai Chi such as better balance, increased flexibility, and reduced stress. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University only school in state committed to federal vet success plan
Clarksville, TN – In August 2013, the federal government developed the “8 Keys to Veterans’ Success” initiative to help veterans succeed on college campuses.
Austin Peay State University, which has a long history of supporting veterans and military personnel, immediately endorsed the program, and one year later, APSU remains the only school in Tennessee committed to implementing the veteran-friendly practices on its campus.

CDE Lightband to Carry SEC Network
Clarksville, TN – As part of The Walt Disney Company’s comprehensive multi-year distribution agreement with the National Telco Television Consortium (NTTC), CDE Lightband will carry the SEC Network for subscribers in Clarksville, Tennessee, when the network launches on August 14th.
CDE Lightband subscribers will also have authenticated access to additional live events scheduled for the SEC Network on WatchESPN and SECNetwork.com – with the ability to watch SEC Network live and on-demand content anytime, anywhere on their television, computer, tablet or mobile device.

Registration is underway for the Riverfest Tour d’Art Exhibits and Competition
Clarksville, TN – This year’s competition has changed just a bit; instead of three different exhibits, Riverfest Tour d’Art will feature the following divisions exhibited at two locations: the Amateur, Professional, and Senior Division at Smith-Trahern Mansion and the High School Division at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center.
Artwork will be juried, and over $2,500 in prizes will be awarded. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University Biology Faculty Awarded $300K NSF Grant To Improve APSU’s Natural History Collection
Clarksville, TN – Drs. Rebecca Johansen, Dwayne Estes and Chris Gienger, principle investigators of the Center of Excellence for Field Biology and Biology Department faculty at Austin Peay Sate University, have been awarded more than $300,000 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to improve the infrastructure, utility and visibility of the APSU Natural History Collection.
In addition to teaching and research activities, Johansen, Estes and Gienger, serve as curators of these collections.
